BM Ebony black typically blends well...just not as shiny,

Here is a picture. We put in granite last year....and I just don't like my cabinets. We have tried staining them dark, but they aren't dark enough. I have decided to paint.

Given the configuration, try a slate gray before going black, as I think it would be too dark. You might also try a black glaze over the darker stain.

I agree black would be very dark. Grey is tricky and can look blue. Stick with a green base grey. I'd do off white. It would give you a clean and open look. I would switch the handles to a contemporary chrome pull

Urban Bronze is a great almost-black from Sherwin Williams

A warm dark gray color would look good. It could compliment the black and chrome of the appliances. I agree with the comment above that you should also consider replacing the handles to something that would match the new color scheme - something simple, modern and silver in color.
