you can do some DIY, it is easy, can paint it in your favorited color,and change the shades, OR hang some crystals to dot it.the Candles can be chaned into crystal Crystal column.

I like the color and would not necessarily paint unless you want to accent or are tired of it!

Hi Tia long time no speak ;0 Its pretty ornate almost too much so. You may be able to save it with a large drum shade. I'd also try to remove those tassels (are they fabric?) If you are feeling adventurous spraying it a fun color could work too. Here's a DIY link for inspiration.

Or you could just save yourself the hassle and replace it with something more "today". It doesn't have to cost a fortune either. If you post a pic of the table and kitchen area I'd be happy to make a couple budget friendly suggestions for you.

Tia if you really want a shaded chandelier you can go for one large drum style. It sits over 3 of the lights. I'll add a pic of one I just installed so you can see a more current style.

Swap it with your dining room fixture. Buy a $7 can of Rustoleum spray paint for metal. Paint it black or white or a hammered silver. Lose the metal shades, they don't add current style and they prevent light from escaping. If you still don't like it, donate it and buy something you really, really love for your dining room.

Buy a drum shade and turn it into an updated chandelier. I know they are available on lampsplus.com

Add some crystals (ie; dingleberrys) and paint the light...
