There are a few things that make this basement look so bright. One is that the windows are facing the front of the house, so there is nothing obstructing them or blocking the light (many basement windows are at the sides, so the house next door keeps them in shadow). There is also ample overhead light that keeps the room feeling bright. The time of day the photo was taken and the direction the windows face also contribute to the lighting, as well as a fantastic photographer who knows how to get just the right exposure to maximize the daylight.
