I am new to houzz, so I just came across your question. I'm currently wondering the same thing. We're very close to choosing Rain Cloud, but I'd like to see more photos of it before I decide. Did you end up using it?

Hi, we are not finished yet, but now I am considering caesarstone misty Carreras.

We are doing the exact same thing. I have ordered samples of Corain Raincloud and Cambria Torquay and plan on comparing both up close. My large island has a dark stained butcher block top so I am looking for something to go on the surrounding counters and around my sink which is set in the wood island. Corain has come out with an Apron sink that would look really neat in that space. So I am at a cross roads. Pay more for Cambria and have a plain sink, or go with Corian and have that cool apron sink? Both look so similar. Ugh! What did you both decide?

Hi Breckkm. I loved the look of cambria torquay but couldn't justify the price. I chose rain cloud. I did an undermount stainless sink (d-shape) and it looks awesome. I was hesitant to get a corian sink. I wanted to break up the look with a stainless sink and I also feared cracking/heat issues. I didn't know that corian has started making apron sink. I'll bet they look amazing!

If you really do like Marble and have your heart set on it, don't let the maintenance frighten you. If sealed correctly, this material can withstand just as much as a granite or even solid surface. Just remember, they've had white marble counters in Italy for hundreds of years and it still looks beautiful. Love your counter arajfh and thanks for the links G studio design. I agree its hard to justify the price of Quartz. I have wondered if it might actually be cheaper to just use marble. However, with a butcher block island, 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat I need something around the perimeter that can take a beating for the next 15 years. Martha Stuart has a new Corian line out as well, Sea Salt is my fav. but when I priced it at Home Depot it was more expensive than Silestone! We are building a house and the kitchen will not be done for several months, but when it's ready I'll post pictures. I have to admit that there is something so quiet and simple about the Corian. I really like it.

I agree with the new sea salt. It's similar to rain cloud in that it has nice veining but in a warmer color. We bought our counters from a local design studio, and it actually was more than cesarstone (!), but I just like corian better. It has really nice movement, is very soft and warm to the touch, and I love the fact that it can be refinished if it ever gets too beat up.

You are right arajfh, Corian has a soft, warm quality to it. That's why I keep coming back to it. I got tired of chilly elbows and cold mugs of coffee on my granite. I wonder if quartz feels like a combo of the two?
