Conservatory!

That's a really nice space and I like what you have in there . For now I would put a bench under window at the far end and place that cute rug right before it. Add some pillows and it would be a nice window seat (kitty would love it!). Find a jute rug for the middle to anchor the chairs you have there. Add a fountain in the corner to the right of the chairs and surround with plants. You could paint the room to pick up one of the colors in the striped rug - maybe terracotta or celery green? I'm not sure about the windows . . . maybe wheat colored roman shades. Below is a possible furniture arrangement. You're so lucky to have a sun room!

Bring in a sofa or comfy chaise for lounging or nap taking. It looks like you have the space and you already have chairs. Also, bring in sun-loving plants. They will thrive in the sunlight. Try a fresh new coat of paint on the walls like Soft Fern 2144-40 by Benjamin Moore to compliment the outdoors. Art on the walls always works miracles. With a long and narrow room I would split it into two sections. You can use what you already have on one side, I would consider getting a bigger rug, of course it depends on budget. That helps anchor and define the space. On the other side you could do a little sofa or a day bed with lots of pillows. It would make a great place to read or just relax. Someone mentioned Ikea they have these cool light colored wooden bowls that I think would look great as wall art. You may want to consider shear drapes from there as well. It would dress up the space without spending too much and you wont lose all that beautiful light in there. And as someone already suggested paint, its an easy less expensive way to change a room. Wow - you have an absolutely beautiful space! Not sure what the budget is for it, but how about a rattan sectional that extends the long wall and the lounge side of the sectional against the window on the far side? Put a rectangular table in front of it, a side table on the couch side that is beside the door - top it with a lamp, painting above the couch - and you are going to fall asleep in that space! Absolutely love the colours in your rug (and the outdoor feel of it) but it is too small for the space - the rug should extend beyond the sectional on both sides and cover to at minimum, a foot from the window - but striped is definitely good (another option is jute). Rattan fans on the ceiling will give it a tropical feel and provide air flow. I like the white paint colour, but until you settle on the furniture, don't think you can address it. The window at 90 degrees to the door - it is off-centre. I'd try to fix it and center it - so you can do one of two things - perhaps hang 2-3 small pictures under each other on the wall beside the window or put curtain panels up so that it balances that space (and bamboo blinds to complete it). If you did the latter with panels, then I think you would have to have to continue the panels across the other windows for consistency (at least on the opposite window for balance). I'd keep the panels light and airy (in linen - which Pottery Barn has lots of colours in). Post pics when you are done. I am sure it will look fabulous with just about anything in it!!

Oh or how about a nautical style ceiling fan in the colour of your curtain rods (if you use panels) or just stainless steel otherwise. Just another idea...

I like to see lots of green plants and art on the wall behind the chairs. Maybe walking sticks (if you walk) bionoculurs (if you bird watch) and a bookshellf for reading materials. Then depending on your style you can choose repurposed items of wood for warmth or metal for easy care on a porch. Because your room is smallish you may wish to select items that are see through like glass (i.e.an old sewing machine base with a glass top for your plants) or a tall but narrow bookshelf to the right of the window shaded area. If you like metal, try Pier One or the antique shop/flea markets if you like old wood. Paint the wood or not depending on your tastes. Have fun!

yes, Donna plants such as ferns, etc love the walking stick and glass pieces, keeps the room feeling larger and airy!

I'd install a looooooooong curtain rod (or as I used in my garage, plumbing pipe, complete with all the special attachments) and then hang inexpensive (I mean cheap!) curtains. I wouldn't plan on closing the curtain panels, only on using them to make the sunroom feel more like a room. I also agree with the people who commented (1) bigger rug (you can buy outdoor rugs really inexpensively at Home Depot and Lowe's) and (2) use as two separate spaces to avoid the "bowling alley" feel. Drag an old sofa, loveseat or chair out there (for God's sake, don't buy new). If you come in that door, put up an inexpensive coat rack and get a small entry rug to wipe your feet. Add an end table, lamp, and a throw and call it a day. Sit out there and read a book. Take your laptop out there and enjoy it. Only if you find you're actually using it should you spend more money (like on paint, or new windows, etc.). That, my dear, is my two cents.

Sun rooms are the corridor to your home and nature...inside out rooms..that always have a fresh yet cozy feel...yours in truly traditional and long therefore the spans takes on a great portion of the view outside of the house...narrow in its function..treat it like an amazing outdoor hallway..gateway between you out space and entrance to the home...forget about decor and create a greenscape that can transform seasonally...where is your home located...this should be the deciding factor with plants and decor...love it..

until you can switch out the carpet (luckily it is a neutral) just layer another with some color on top; a bright runner for the length can work like a Kilim type pattern; tie in with some roman shades and pillows. We used antique slate roofing tiles for our sunroom floor and did it ourselves in a weekend; love it

Always designing - could you share pics? I'm thinking about a floor for my covered porch and would like to see how the slate roofing tiles look.

I love that photo of the sofa at the end and the diagonal rug. Beautiful lay out and my favorite of all suggestions! Had another thought overnight. When you are ready to do your flooring consider a stone product called Riverrock Flooring.This is what I have in my 3-seasons porch. It is made up of actual tiny pebbles and is absolutely care free. All I do is vacuum. And, this is our main entry point to the house and we have two large dogs!

Treat the room as outdoors rather than indoors. If you could remove the carpet that would be great. I used the new vinyl floors that look like tile and I love it. I then put down outdoor rugs to differentiate the different seating/eating areas.
