What is Ipe?

Hi. Great fence. What is the distance between the slats? What is the width of the boards. We want a horizontal fence for a deck overlooking the venice canals, and want to maximize visibility through the fence while keeping it attractive. Thank you!

These are very nice and beautiful fences. Wooden fences are very durable and need very little maintenance. The picture you have shared with us clearly indicates the fact that how with these wooden fences the entire garden or yard looks very refreshing. Thanks for the share.

mjohns7691 - Ipe is a Brazilian hardwood. One of the strongest (if not the strongest wood) available in the market. It stands to have a lifespan of about 75+ years and resists rot, mildew, and insects naturally.

nicluc47- It appears that the boards are 6" (nominal 5 1/2") in width. To maximize the view from these type of fences you can have boards that are narrower such as 3"-3 1/2" and widen the gap a bit more.

Oak Tree Construction- Posts that are eased on 4 edges may be found in stores where they sell fences. However, they may end up being something more common like Fir or Pine.
