Barstool suggestions

I need some suggestions for the type of barstools to use in the kitchen of our new home. We have 3 young kids (4, 2, and 3 months), so ease of maintenance is a priority. We like modern, yet inviting and comfortable. I think stools with backs would be preferable and I'm leaning toward black, or possibly grey. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

What a beautiful kitchen, I love your island. I would go for barstools that have backs similar to the backs of your dining chairs and the leather seats similar in color to the seats of the dining chairs. I find that keeping the styles and colors close helps the many pieces of furniture we end up having between the kitchen table and counter area look not too busy. It should not be "matchy" though,that would be too boring.

With little ones just make sure the barstools have arms. :)

Maybe bring in some warmth and texture with a woven barstool. It will coordinate well with your table with out feeling "matchy"

Thanks so much for the suggestions thus far. The dining table pictured is actually going to be replaced, so no need to coordinate with it. I am considering a dining table more like the one attached, but no idea about chairs. Would welcome any suggestions for those, too.

Love the table! Looks like it might have a slight grey wash? Now I can see why you were leaning towards grey in the barstools :)
These options are both visually interesting and will still add a layer of texture...

kids will perch on anything, so backs aren't as much of an issue (we chose backs because they are so much more comfortable for adults who want to relax at the bar). With kids, however, I would look for swivel seats. Easier to get on and off of and less scraping of your beautiful floors.
