Spoilt for choice - too many colours - how about white?!

Here's my problem - we are building a new family home and for the first time I get a say in how my kitchen looks - and after all these years of accepting the design colours and faults of existing kitchens I don't want to stuff it up!
I love the look of kitchens with a pop of colour BUT haven't got the nerve (or money to change my mind later) so am looking for suggestions using whites. I will bring in the pop with art/fruit bowl etc.
We have decided that our room will be painted with a colour called "Dulux http://www.dulux.com.au/ColourWallFB/251548/Inbound.aspx?bmr=1 144 BUFF IT half" and white trim with light tile floors - the only other colour I need to bring in is a large collection of Blue and White china that needs to be displayed on a wooden kitchen dresser.
So in a new build home such as the one we plan to build with an open kitchen/dining lounge with clean lines and traditional styling - what do you recommend?
Looking forward to hearing from you all :-)
