I agree with Natasha from a design point, but from a staging to sell - this is brilliant. It shows off the space, offers potential and makes a good first impression.

Thank you for all your comments and inputs. @Natasha I totally agree with you. We did try to depersonalize the whole house to attract as much buyers as possible. Again thanks for your input!

From a selling standpoint it was a great move. Still looks gorgeous, but less personal.

And the key question is... did they get their asking price and how quickly did it sell? Great job!

I have a red room and have felt like maybe I should update with neutrals. But then suddenly it occurred to me the other day, this is my house, I love the red, and I'm not putting my house on the market. Ahhhhh, free to be me once again! ; )

Bet your neck feels better now that you moved the TV from above the fireplace. Worst place ever to position a flat screen

I think before was better (with a little tweaking and editing anyways.) After, looks like it is being staged for sale. Yawn.

It would be more dramatic if the fireplace wall was that dark gray as the before. But I see you were staging for sale.

Thank you for all your inputs and comments. @Jamileh -You can get the coffee table set at wayfair.com, @emilyf - dining room set was one of the pieces owned by the sellers, the rest was all rentals including other big furniture pieces and all accessories.

@Bryan - Yes, this house already have 2 60" TV in the house, so I don't feel the need to hang another. Not a big fan of TVs in the living room on top of the fire place when staging, its a big black frame that can be an eyesore when selling.. and its true, it can be a pain in the neck too!

@michelle- red is a fantastic color, i love it (it is actually my name), however it is too strong of a colour to use when selling a property. But if you're not, it can be a beautiful accent colour when done properly.

@Bonnie - I agree! it will give it more drama and impact, but we try to be on the safe side. This house is listed at $1.6M and we want to attract as much buyers as we can.

I think it looks awesome...if I were staging a home in Toronto with such a big price tag I would want it to appeal to a lot of people...you certainly did this well!

I like the before as well (with some minor de-cluttering, has more character). But understand that is not for everyone, and the newly staged room will sell better. The room does look so much bigger.

So so much better with the all that clutter gone. Especially the shelving unit blocking the entrance to the dinng room. I guess it was meant to separate the rooms but the openness is so much nicer.

Thanks for the validation Red! My strategy with red walls is stick with my pallet so my eclectic taste doesn't get overwhelming.

Great from a "staging for sale" POV. I liked the red wall and the character of the before. I would have done major de-cluttering, and painted the dark grey walls a lighter color if I were just making it more comfortable to live there. It is hard to make something "universally appealing" without also making it a little bland. It would make a huge difference just to remove the TV and get everything out from in front of the fireplace.
