Thank you all for the advice. It opened my narrow minded thoughts a bit. There are just so many ways to go my mind goes crazy sometimes. I did like the first set of curtains!
I want a more modern/fresh look. My decor doesn't necessarily have to be blue or purple but I do want it to be colors. Also when scrolling through photos on this site I tend to like the white walls with black or dark wood shelving with a modern or contemporary look. Choices! My wife gave me 3 weeks to have curtains, lighting, wall shelving or display stand, and a little wall decor picked out to get us started!

Those are my favorite colors, so it will be fun to help you. You need an overall plan before you buy anything. Unusual for a wife to turn over decorating to hubby, but 3 weeks is not a realistic time!!! Just ordering drapes can take much longer than that!

The main reason I'm doing this room is because my wife has a great deal of other issues right now. We so thought it would be fun if I made the room with a style that fits me. My camera is packed away so I'm using my phone to take the pics which isn't working out to well. Here are a few more pics of the room. Again thanks for all the responses. Lol..... I knew someone would say that. It would be nice to change the color but my wife wants the white walls. I'll try to find some pics with white walls. The photos I shares basically show the type of colors and decor I would like to shoot for if possible. I'll keep browsing for more photos I like but I'm also open to new ideas as long as I keep the sofa and white walls.

Those pics give an excellent feel for your style. Find a painting or a rug as an inspiration that you can then move forward with.

A rug with color and pattern that appeals to you can establish a color combo that will bring the room alive with art and pillow. Looks like you like a painted coffee table which is easy to put in your space.

Hi, I just realized that the photos of the 4 rooms, are ones you picked. All very different in feel, but all eclectic. Not one of them has a sectional sofa, the reason is that sectionals have to be sized to the room they will be in. What I see is that you like pops of what I call "raspberry" or fushia with lots of white, except for the upper left, and I will bet that what attracted you is the coffee table and the other saturated colors. That color also goes very well with a navy blue and we are seeing it with orange too.
I want to talk to you about your floor plan. Can you move the TV to the wall perpendicular to the window? If so, I would break up the sectional taking the chaise into the window alcove, and move the rest of it to the wall where the TV is now. As it is you are not able to take advantage of any view and the light from the window will be a problem for viewing the TV.

I would find a rug to anchor the space and I would add fabric to the windows either drapes that can be drawn, or roman shades that can be lowered. Add pillows and repeat the fabric from the window treatment in the pillows by combining them with solids. Add side tables that can hold a lamp at least 2 and a stand alone lamp and small table to hold a drink or dish. I don't know what the opening in the one wall is, if you could have that wall rmoved and make it just a large opening it would look much better and give you a lot more space. I just did this for a client and it made a world of difference in how the room felt. Of course the tile floor is a problem with that, so it might be better to just enlarge the opening, better yet have a plasterer fill it in then you have a useable wall.

I am not advising a big coffee table because I think it might become a barrier in this open space that is also a pass through to other areas of the apartment.

The sectional color and texture may not make purple the best choice for adding color. Is the sectional beige, gold or ?

I'm definitely open to moving the furniture and tv. I will post the photos later today when I'm done. I will also be removing the cabinet the tv is on and mounting onto the wall. I'm really not sure what the opening in that wall is meant for either. I tried placing plants and small items in it, but it looked very cluttered.
I love the the picture design and artwork and rug, along with the drapes and a few of the pillows. Wow.. So many options and it's just the beginning!
I am going back now to look through all the suggestions, advice, and pictures and be back in a few.

patricia, why would texture have anything to do with color choice?

Ramona, texture often affects the "shine" of the fabric, making it reflect other colors. BTW, I love your ideabook on making ikat work!

If I were you I would follow the following plan of action

Step 1 - Figure out where you are going to place the couch and TV
Step 2 - look at the wall space and decide where you can place artwork and what size space you need to fill.
Step 3 - Find a single painting or large wall art that speaks to you and fits your wall space. Take a cushion from your couch while you are shopping for the art so you know that the piece you pick works with the couch.
Step 4 - Use colors from the artwork as your inspiration for the room
Pick additional wall art, carpet, accent pillows and window coverings and a few things to set around from the colors in your inspiration piece.

Attached 2 pictures that speak to me (animal lover) that have bright color and beige. Just some examples of ways you can use art for inspiration to choose a color pallet.

The problem I have with moving separating the sectional is that it has hooks that would be visible. Not sure now...

Do a floor plan. Can you just rotate it? It looks wrong where it is.

I agree it looks very wrong. I'll rotate it around a few ways and see what happens. I would love to get something different but right now it's just not possible.
