We designed this lovely, private dining area with custom wood-slat screens and a concrete kitchen complete with seating, grilling, counters and wood storage. Climbing hydrangea vines are being trained to extend over the custom window arbor.

A monochromatic color scheme is achieved through white marble flooring, gray walls and white trim, which enhances the home's archways. The front door and round table's rich finish provides an elegant contrast.

Our British Colonial Seating Collection captures the old-world character of antique carved mahogany, re-created in durable cast aluminum. Frames are enhanced with intricately detailed die-cast pineapple accents, finished through a 14-step powdercoat process, and hand-painted to achieve a richly grained, wood-like texture. Classic spindle legs and pineapple pedestals support rattan-motif tabletops. Seating pieces have plantation-shutter backs, are generously scaled, and include high-performing, solution-dyed fabric cushions for lasting, fade-resistant comfort.

This adorable beach cottage is in the heart of the village of La Jolla in San Diego. The goals were to brighten up the space and be the perfect beach get-away for the client whose permanent residence is in Arizona. Some of the ways we achieved the goals was to place an extra high custom board and batten in the great room and by refinishing the kitchen cabinets (which were in excellent shape) white. We created interest through extreme proportions and contrast. Though there are a lot of white elements, they are all offset by a smaller portion of very dark elements. We also played with texture and pattern through wallpaper, natural reclaimed wood elements and rugs. This was all kept in balance by using a simplified color palate minimal layering. I am so grateful for this client as they were extremely trusting and open to ideas. House was designed after the original 1770's house on the property. Home was designed to be a formal house but was now being used as a weekend retreat. Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house. AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color. The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay.
