However, now the family of three and their loving cat live there together; the space quickly became confined and inadequate. The Clients contacted us to discuss what their options may be to help the home feel more spacious. After a few weeks of design and engineering, we went to work on opening up the first floor to increase the size of the rooms while creating continuity with the adjoining rooms. A once tired and confined layout became a spacious, comfortable, & aesthetically pleasing space to live and entertain.

During the design stage, they also decided to create a zen home office for one of the owner’s reiki business that had direct access for visitors from the backyard, rather than walking through the house. In assessing the feasibility of the project, the first thing the designer did was to check the zoning regulations. After a thorough study, it was determined that a 7-foot side addition was possible. This 7-foot addition was adequate for a built-in cabinetry storage and a new powder room. The design proposal also included a rear wraparound 13ftx13ft home office, that gave the existing rear patio a courtyard feel. Painted stucco was used on the new addition to match a previously added sunroom at the other side of the house. Matching windows were also added. This neutral and rustic family room has a beautiful view of downtown Tampa. The homeowner entertains frequently and needed comfortable seating for large groups. Space is at a premium so we chose a sectional sofa. It allows adequate seating while allowing space to get to the outdoor area or the bar cart. Located right here in Middle Tennessee this home owner opted for one of the most distinct bathrooms setting them above the rest. There is nothing common about this bathroom and it highlights some of the most desirable features now trending. The earthy tones and natural hues bring an atmosphere to this bathroom that is refreshing and rustic. Custom windows with frosting bring in the natural light, while maintaining adequate privacy, to enhance the outdoors appearance. Bricks are no longer just used for the outside of the home, while daring to be different and creative bricks now culminate the canvas of creativity when remodeling many rooms of the home. The original kitchen was small and in need of a new layout. The homeowners are very social and host parties regularly. A large island for entertaining was a must. To get the adequate space, Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker provided design options that included having the existing living room become the new formal dining room. The Viking range was trapped in an alcove, with little counter space on the sides. By relocating the wall oven, the range wall is a functional area featuring two niches, an accessory rail and dramatic tile. The new grey-stained Crystal cabinets in hickory and cherry complement the existing Colorado stone floors.
