A house floating on water—or so it seems. Responding to the lakeside site, the building unfolds in four segments connected by footbridges. Pitched roofs of Corten steel hover above walls clad in stacked limestone and reclaimed timber. A Tennessean sanctuary of space and light, as serene as a pagoda, as homey as a ranch.

A transitional home sited to take in amazing views of the rolling farmland, this home is an amazing mix of modern and traditional. Painted white like the traditional farmhouse, it also has traditional accents of stone and window awnings. Large contemporary windows were used to create patterns of a more traditional look on the front, while the rear of the house has expansive glass.

On a beautiful beach site on Lake Michigan’s northern shore, views to the lake are critical and will be captured from each space in proportion to time spent in that room. A protected outdoor living area that includes an outdoor kitchen, living, dining and fireplace creates the center of this home. It’s only revealed upon entry into the home. Off this outdoor center is a wing that houses a unique, open living area for gathering and viewing of the lake. Another pod off the outdoor area offers small, cozy, and simple spaces dedicated for sleeping.

This rugged desert building site set the stage for a contemporary interpretation of traditional Hacienda architecture. The client visualized a unique home that fitted effortlessly into its surroundings. Rock outcropping presented siting challenges, but the use of stone reflecting local geology allowed the structure to create a true sense of place. Hacienda hallmarks of a clay tile roof, rough wood beams, and an exquisite wood entry door greet visitors and portent what to anticipate inside. Interior design emphasizes rustic romantic beauty with rich colors, natural materials accented with traditional wood and metal detailing. The expansive rear patio and curvilinear pool provide ample space for socializing and taking in the rugged desert mountain views. Day or night, inside or out, amazing views to savor.

This beautiful lake and snow lodge site on the waters edge of Lake Sunapee, and only one mile from Mt Sunapee Ski and Snowboard Resort. The home features conventional and timber frame construction. MossCreek's exquisite use of exterior materials include poplar bark, antique log siding with dovetail corners, hand cut timber frame, barn board siding and local river stone piers and foundation. Inside, the home features reclaimed barn wood walls, floors and ceilings.

With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests.
While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment.

The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials.

This modern take on territorial design was built in Desert Mountain. A five acre lot provided a significant challenge due to the slope of the lot dropping almost 15 feet from the street in the first fifty feet. Ron spent a good deal of time studying the site before determining the location and setting of the home and yard space. The results are a home that offers significant privacy while taking full advantage of the amazing desert views to the South and East of the property.

Scott & Catherine Buley, HTT&T, High Tech Turf & Trees, LandscapeMakeover.biz, Rain Garden Nursery. It's amazing how this landscape changes thru the seasons. Perennial and native plants put on a real show at this site. And it is really ever-changing. One of our favorite design features here is the Compact Sugar Cone Sugar Maple trees out front. They will stay small, and really never need pruning. Yet they have gorgeous leaves, and a great shape. Look for photos with Fall colors in just a few days.

This kitchen’s well-crafted interior features traditional design, and custom details. The houses’ original cast iron sink was saved and the cabinetry from the sixties, replaced with a style more fitting to the original 1907 home.

View of the Front facade of the house. Wood reclaimed wood siding, Stone veneer, Wood timber truss elements. The windows and doors are red and complement the drab and uneven colors of the reclaimed wood siding and stone veneer. Amazing direct view of the Mountain and secondary view up and down the valley. Farm houses and barns visible in the distance.
