Stone was the material of choice in creating a separation between the driveway and garden. The stone acts as an extension of the house in both its color and solidity. The defined silhouette is amplified by the feathery arborvitae hedge in the background.

The Haylofts are the compilation of two quiet straw bale suites flanking a metal and glass great room. Because of the Northern orientation of the Haylofts, the windows can remain substantially uncovered, offering a wonderfully protected view over Flora Farms and out to San Jose beyond. To amplify the impact of the windows, the ceiling is also glass in the living room, offering a wonderful reflection of the farm during the afternoon hours.

This contemporary home features two striking staircases with integrated LED lighting, glass railing, and thick wood treads. The color-changing LEDs shift from red to blue to yellow, transforming the staircases into dynamic focal points throughout the day. Wood treads and handrails are paired with frameless glass balustrades secured by black pins. Open risers amplify the LED lighting effect while maximizing transparency.
The first-level staircase uses cantilevered and field-supported construction, while the second rises on dual metal stringers. Glass railing continues on the second-floor balcony, creating a cohesive system where light and glass elevate the design beyond the purely functional.

The approach to Edge House, a walk through verdant woodland abundant with ferns and moss, is a lesson in arrival. What appears is a woodsy yet contemporary dwelling divided into two volumes, framing an ocean view. Located on an island off Midcoast, Maine, Edge House is a low-slung cabin that hugs the rocky coast. The client commissioned Charles Rose Architects to design a simple cottage retreat that could take full advantage of the view, while also remaining inconspicuously nestled in the trees. The solution was a simple wood-shingled structure that features large glass windows, connecting both structure and inhabitant to the site. From the water’s edge, only a few hundred meters away, the house is barely visible. The selection of contextual materials, specifically cedar shingles, was meant to embed the structure in the landscape. For the interior, bedrooms are purposefully small, and beds were positioned close to the full-height windows, allowing occupants to immerse themselves in the view. Clerestory windows under the roof further amplify the quality of natural light and create a weightless effect on the roof from the outside. The stone fireplace, located in the living room, was crafted with stones gathered from the site as another way to bring the outdoors in.

Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning
J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation.
Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic?
Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards.
The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space.
We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles.
All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall.
Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home.
To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations.

The door rotates and opens the spaces.
Door B52, referred to the mm
of thickness, combine the charm of the natural oak antique to a modern practical opening.
It’s the bidirectional Pivot system that let the door rotate around
a pivot on both sides left and right: this movement reduce the door obstruction and amplify the comfort of the opening.

Robin Stancliff photo credits. The clients for this project wanted me to create unity and symmetry between both sides of the wall while crafting a special space for displaying the pieces of art they have collected over the years. I accomplished this goal by removing the drywall niches and
bringing the drywall down to the same height as the door, but this endeavor came with a
few challenges. The home does not have an attic, so we had to work in a small crawl
space to reconfigure the shape of the room and add the unique lighting which amplifies
the display areas along the wall. Another challenge was finding the right craftsmanship
that would compliment the old world doors in the room without copying them directly.
Luckily, I was able to find the perfect cabinets that offer ample storage while mirroring
the artful old world doors. Because my clients own and cherish a variety of culturally
diverse art pieces, display shelves and custom lighting were of high importance to them.
This is why we used both solid wood and glass to create the display shelving, bringing
LED light up from the bottom of the shelf and through the top by adding a glass insert to
the top shelf. In addition to adding custom lighting to the display cabinet, I angled
additional LED lighting toward the ceiling to create a sense of more space in the room.
My clients now have a unified, symmetrical space which allows them to display their art
pieces in a dignified and beautiful way.

Every inch of this new space brings a luxurious feel with the promise of durability for everyday life. A brand new kitchen with full overlay cabinets and an accent blue island amplifies storage and drop zone areas. Herringbone backsplash with gold hardware and deep sapele wood floating shelves decorate the space with simple, yet endearing designs. Placed in view of the kitchen, the bar has a mirror backsplash with blue cabinets to tie into the kitchen island. With two efficient and separate spaces, the laundry room creates a perfect work zone with black fixtures and the mudroom keeps everything tucked away in style. A brand new powder room with fun blue-patterned tile to bring an element of play into the first floor.

This stunning two-story great room is defined by its dramatic wall of oversized windows that flood the space with natural light and frame lush outdoor views. A soaring vaulted ceiling with a sculptural modern chandelier elevates the room’s airy, open feel, while light-stained hardwood flooring provides warmth and continuity throughout the main level. The modern staircase features dark-stained wood, sleek black balusters, and a soft textured carpet runner that blends luxury with comfort. Anchoring the space is a clean-lined contemporary fireplace wrapped in a smooth concrete-look surround and topped with a minimalist mantel. Crisp white walls amplify brightness and create the perfect backdrop for modern furnishings, art, or a mounted TV if desired. Designed for both everyday living and statement-making gatherings, this great room blends modern architecture with timeless simplicity.

This is a master bathroom with a separate shower and tub area. The tub area was not being used so it was converted into a makeup vanity area. This was a full gut renovation, all tiles were removed. New floor to ceiling faux carrara porcelain 12x24 tiles were installed. Marble hexagon mosaic tiles were installed on the shower floor and a sliding glass shower door replaced the dated swinging door. A shower grab bar was added for safety. Lighting was amplified with new ceiling recessed LED damp-rated lighting as well as new pendant lights flanking the vanity mirror.

This 3 level elegant and ultra-modern well-designed staircase features dark wooden treads, no risers, a horizontal railing system, and plenty of space beneath the stairs. The gaps/spaces (code compliant) between the wooden treads let the maximum amount of light shine from the top floor windows, and the ½” stainless steel horizontal rods amplify the look of the space under the landings.
