Beautiful Georgian home for a young family. A modern interpretation of traditional home, breathing freshness and color and light. Home and Living Examiner said: Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation. Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic? Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards. The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space. We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles. All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall. Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home. To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations. A kitchen remodel for a retired Navy Captain who was ready for an upgrade to his beloved home. We wanted to keep the space light and aery but have that contrast with the black appliances. Cleanliness and easy of care were top priorities, so we used wood-looking porcelain tile and quartz for the hard surfaces. Arctic white cabinets got a chocolate glaze to amplify the detail in the door style and added a warmer feel to this large kitchen. The slab we picked was a statement piece and we made sure to use it for the backslash and waterfall it down the bar peninsula. We preserved the same footprint in this kitchen, changed out the pony wall for a bar-high peninsula, upgraded the appliances and painted the whole space Dover White. These wonderful Markham homeowners came to us looking to update their rather dark and dated existing master bath to a bright, functional and stylish space they can relax in after a long day. To brighten the space, we included touches of a soft gray palette throughout the room and used modern lighting fixtures to amplify the light. We upgraded their worn out showers to feature a new freestanding tub coupled with a much larger and luxurious shower. The approach to Edge House, a walk through verdant woodland abundant with ferns and moss, is a lesson in arrival. What appears is a woodsy yet contemporary dwelling divided into two volumes, framing an ocean view. Located on an island off Midcoast, Maine, Edge House is a low-slung cabin that hugs the rocky coast. The client commissioned Charles Rose Architects to design a simple cottage retreat that could take full advantage of the view, while also remaining inconspicuously nestled in the trees. The solution was a simple wood-shingled structure that features large glass windows, connecting both structure and inhabitant to the site. From the water’s edge, only a few hundred meters away, the house is barely visible. The selection of contextual materials, specifically cedar shingles, was meant to embed the structure in the landscape. For the interior, bedrooms are purposefully small, and beds were positioned close to the full-height windows, allowing occupants to immerse themselves in the view. Clerestory windows under the roof further amplify the quality of natural light and create a weightless effect on the roof from the outside. The stone fireplace, located in the living room, was crafted with stones gathered from the site as another way to bring the outdoors in.

The primary goal of the Ithaca II project was to open up the home to amplify natural light, bring outdoor views inside, and create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Additional updates refreshed the interiors with a focus on millwork and storage. The previous floor plan of this 1963 home carved up the main level into separate living, dining, family room and kitchen spaces that limited both sunlight and usable space for the way contemporary families live and entertain. By opening the layout and expanding the kitchen, the main floor instantly became more functional without disrupting the curved central staircase — an integral architectural element of the home. Adding a glass-inset front door, opening up exterior walls and incorporating wide folding glass doors instantly maximized natural light. In the all-new kitchen, maple cabinetry, a painted white island, quartz counters, backsplashes and appliances have created a space perfect for cooking and casual dining. The new accordion doors open both the adjacent dining area and living room to an expanded deck for seamless al fresco gatherings. Alpine Summit Homes added new four-inch white oak hardwood flooring to the main level. Trim molding was refreshed throughout the home with clean lines to add a modern look while maintaining the classic midcentury architectural roots. New storage cabinetry was added to the living room and powder/laundry room, while the primary suite received new doors and bathroom fixtures to match the main-level updates.
