Inspiration for a large contemporary guest carpeted and beige floor bedroom remodel in Phoenix with green walls and no fireplace

This home is a bachelor’s dream, but it didn’t start that way. It began with a young man purchasing his first single-family home in Westlake Village. The house was dated from the late 1980s, dark, and closed off. In other words, it felt like a man cave — not a home. It needed a masculine makeover. He turned to his friend, who spoke highly of their experience with us. We had remodeled and designed their home, now known as the “Oak Park Soiree.” The result of this home’s new, open floorplan assured him we could provide the same flow and functionality to his own home. He put his trust in our hands, and the construction began. The entry of our client’s original home had no “wow factor.” As you walked in, you noticed a staircase enclosed by a wall, making the space feel bulky and uninviting. Our team elevated the entry by designing a new modern staircase with a see-through railing. We even took advantage of the area under the stairs by building a wine cellar underneath it… because wine not? Down the hall, the kitchen and family room used to be separated by a wall. The kitchen lacked countertop and storage space, and the family room had a high ceiling open to the second floor. This floorplan didn’t function well with our client’s lifestyle. He wanted one large space that allowed him to entertain family and friends while at the same time, not having to worry about noise traveling upstairs. Our architects crafted a new floorplan to make the kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room flow together as a great room. We removed the obstructing wall and enclosed the high ceiling above the family room by building a new loft space above. The kitchen area of the great room is now the heart of the home! Our client and his guests have plenty of space to gather around the oversized island with additional seating. The walls are surrounded by custom Crystal cabinetry, and the countertops glisten with Vadara quartz, providing ample cooking and storage space. To top it all off, we installed several new appliances, including a built-in fridge and coffee machine, a Miele 48-inch range, and a beautifully designed boxed ventilation hood with brass strapping and contrasting color. There is now an effortless transition from the kitchen to the family room, where your eyes are drawn to the newly centered, linear fireplace surrounded by floating shelves. Its backlighting spotlights the purposefully placed symmetrical décor inside it. Next to this focal point lies a LaCantina bi-fold door leading to the backyard’s sparkling new pool and additional outdoor living space. Not only does the wide door create a seamless transition to the outside, but it also brings an abundance of natural light into the home. Our primary challenge was to balance the historic integrity of the home with the bachelor homeowner’s passion for media in every room. A flat screen television was hidden in a custom armoire in the living room. A second television, installed in the sitting room off the master bedroom, complete with surround sound. The original fireplace was maintained with the addition of a walnut mantel, repeating the inset walnut design of the original wood floors.

With nothing but a backpack and a few art pieces in hand, our client, with southern charm, was in dire need of furniture and fast. After liking our aesthetic style, Regan Baker Design was hired to help furnish and style his entire 1 bedroom apartment in Russian Hill. The overall color pallet was derived from his uncle’s large scale highway artwork, which is now displayed proudly above the custom sofa. From there we built the design around his love for modern spaces, his personal hobby of photography and his love for music. With the exception of a few great pieces of art, we worked hand in hand with our client to assure his bachelor pad was masculine, yet casual modern and in the end created a bachelor pad Ryan Gosling would be happy to bring his dates back to. This was a major upgrade for my client! We are talking a previous condition of 1960's plastic Pepto Bismol drowned bathroom complete with carpet and a corner tub that took up half of the small bath's usable space!! Well I couldn't in all good conscience leave him in such misery, so this is what I did for this sweet workaholic bachelor. Check out his thank you letter to me in the thank you letter section!

Jacob Hand; Our client purchased a true Chicago loft in one of the city’s best locations and wanted to upgrade his developer-grade finishes and post-collegiate furniture. We stained the floors, installed concrete backsplash tile to the rafters and tailored his furnishings & fixtures to look as dapper as he does.

This bold and blue traditional kitchen was designed by Bilotta’s Jeni Spaeth with Interior Designer Jane Bell of Jane Bell Interiors. Designed for a bachelor’s penthouse, the view from the apartment spectacularly overlooks Westchester County with sights as far as Manhattan. Featuring Bilotta Collection Cabinetry in a 1” thick door, the design team strayed far from the classic white kitchen and opted for a regal shade of blue on the perimeter and natural walnut on the island. The color palette is further emphasized by the polished Blue Bahia granite top on the island and beautifully accented by the pops of gold used for the decorative hardware. The focal point of the kitchen is the Cornu Fe range, the Albertine model in black with satin nickel and polished brass accents. The accompanying hood is a custom design by Rangecraft in brushed stainless with satin gold elements. The countertop and backsplash surrounding the hearth area are in soft beige tones, a needed contrast to the darker hues of the cabinets and range. The L-shaped layout, with seating at the island, allows for wide-open views into the adjoining rooms and to the city below through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

A showcase suite to show off the Philips’ catalogue of LED light bulbs, this loft in Gastown’s Paris Annex building belongs to a bachelor, but was restaged with a woman in mind. Using many of the owner’s existing furnishings, the once linear, masculine room becomes more lithe and feminine with the introduction of white, colour and curves. Shapely pieces from Moroso, Vitra and BD Barcelona complement the clean lines of Bensen’s Canyon sectional. An eye-catching aqua wall is echoed in the silk thread in the Jan Kath rug. Having successfully designed the then bachelor’s penthouse residence at the Waldorf Astoria, Kadlec Architecture + Design was retained to combine 2 units into a full floor residence in the historic Palmolive building in Chicago. The couple was recently married and have five older kids between them all in their 20s. She has 2 girls and he has 3 boys (Think Brady bunch). Nate Berkus and Associates was the interior design firm, who is based in Chicago as well, so it was a fun collaborative process. Details: -Brass inlay in natural oak herringbone floors running the length of the hallway, which joins in the rotunda. -Bronze metal and glass doors bring natural light into the interior of the residence and main hallway as well as highlight dramatic city and lake views. -Billiards room is paneled in walnut with navy suede walls. The perfect bachelor pad should be infused with personal style and individual personality. I styled the space with an eclectic mix of furnishings - a vintage 1960's sideboard; a modern drum shade ceiling pendant; rich, chocolate brown leather dining chairs with an expandable traditional cabriole leg dining table.
