This kitchen was originally built in the early 21st century and was a very dark cherry wood with lots of fussy detailing. The designer, Stephanie Frees., removed a lot of the busy woodworking, the entire range wall and then reworked the space from there, trying to incorporate as many of the original cabinets as possible to save on cost. Painting the perimeter Benjamin Moore Dove white and the island a custom mix navy blue added brightness and interest. The homeowners splurged on a stunning white marble for the countertops. The beautiful detail pattern on the simple subway tile adds depth and interest to the backsplash area. Removing a few wall cabinets at the bar and adding the wood shelves, as well as building in the bookcase cabinetry in the family room adds cohesive details that ties all of the rooms together. The family loves to gather around the built-in banquette that allows their large family to all dine comfortably.

The porcelain tile floor looks and feels like natural limestone without the maintenance. The hand-tufted wool rug creates a sense of luxury while complying with association rules. Our renovation of a 1930's bungalow focused on opening up the kitchen/dining/living areas to improve flow and connectivity between the spaces. The rustic reclaimed beams help delineate the spaces visually and add texture and warmth. The original white oak floors were refinished with a custom stain to evoke the wood’s natural raw state. We brought color into the space with the ‘blue spruce’ base cabinets and a custom reclaimed island top. The Calacatta gold quartz countertops, hexagon backsplash, and white upper cabinets keep the space feeling light and bright.

Design-build kitchen, powder room, and butler’s pantry remodel in an 1890 Victorian home in Wakefield, MA. Full renovation included reconfiguring the powder room layout and opening a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room to improve flow and functionality. Kitchen remodel features frameless full overlay cabinetry in Steel Blue, quartz countertops (Alleanza Dolomiti Extra), beveled crackle tile backsplash, and hardwood flooring. Island addition replaces freestanding table and adds prep space with microwave drawer. Full-height wall cabinets maximize kitchen storage. Historic-inspired details include ogee-edge countertops, bridge-style faucet in English Bronze, decorative corbels, polished nickel hardware, and industrial-style sconces. Powder room renovation includes reduced footprint layout, basketweave floor tile, applied molding, wallpaper, and vintage-inspired plumbing fixtures in chrome. This kitchen, once checkered with black and white flooring, black and white appliances and heavy fur downs was given a face lift to create a light and airy kitchen. Beautiful golden oak flooring was installed to match the existing flooring in other rooms and to keep the historical feel of the home. White cabinets gave the small kitchen a spacious feel and upgrade appliances lend to an easy work triangle when cooking and entertaining.
