Living room - transitional living room idea in Atlanta

You can see that the dividing wall between the kitchen and dining area was removed, really enlarging and brightening the space. The breakfast bar previously sat within a small pass-through window just beside the kitchen doorway, creating an awkward, choppy wall and a cramped eating area. The remodeled version is much more spacious, with ample counter space for family and guests to sit without feeling crowded. Final photos by Impressia Photography.

This project encompasses the renovation of two aging metal warehouses located on an acre just North of the 610 loop. The larger warehouse, previously an auto body shop, measures 6000 square feet and will contain a residence, art studio, and garage. A light well puncturing the middle of the main residence brightens the core of the deep building. The over-sized roof opening washes light down three masonry walls that define the light well and divide the public and private realms of the residence. The interior of the light well is conceived as a serene place of reflection while providing ample natural light into the Master Bedroom. Large windows infill the previous garage door openings and are shaded by a generous steel canopy as well as a new evergreen tree court to the west. Adjacent, a 1200 sf building is reconfigured for a guest or visiting artist residence and studio with a shared outdoor patio for entertaining. Photo by Peter Molick, Art by Karin Broker

Inspiration for a modern l-shaped light wood floor open concept kitchen remodel in Denver with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, green cabinets, quartzite countertops, white backsplash, ceramic backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island and white countertops

With no windows or natural light, we used a combination of artificial light, open space, and white walls to brighten this master bath remodel. Over the white, we layered a sophisticated palette of finishes that embrace color, pattern, and texture: 1) long hex accent tile in “lemongrass” gold from Walker Zanger (mounted vertically for a new take on mid-century aesthetics); 2) large format slate gray floor tile to ground the room; 3) textured 2X10 glossy white shower field tile (can’t resist touching it); 4) rich walnut wraps with heavy graining to define task areas; and 5) dirty blue accessories to provide contrast and interest. After removing the brick underneath the shelving units, we added a bench storage unit and closed cabinetry for storage. The back walls were finalized with a white shiplap wall treatment to brighten the space and wood shelving for accessories. Created a multi-level outdoor living space to match the mid-century modern style of the home with upper deck and lower patio. Porcelain pavers create a clean pattern to offset the modern furniture, which is neutral in color and simple in shape to balance with the bold-colored accents.

A space behind a porch can be dark. We incorporated a series of 3 7' elliptical windows cut into the barrel vaulted ceiling to brighten the room.

We are proud to say that this kitchen was featured in a Houzz Kitchen of the Week article! This once small, dark kitchen did not allow enough space for a family of 5 to all enjoy the kitchen at the same time. The removal of a stone wall and creation of a new layout along with creamy white cabinets and raised ceiling now make the whole room more open and airy. The large island now has a sink and white carrara marble counter. Pine floors replaced the previous tile which also helped in brightening up the space.
