This closet was lined with cedar, which added character to the room. We removed the doors and left the cedar intact. To avoid nail holes the existing clothing rod was used to hang items with large iron "S" hooks. The petite desk provides a work surface for letter writing, using a laptop or tablet, or a craft area. A Thonet style chair tucks neatly into the space. Small portable tables with shelving and wire baskets were used to store supplies and display decorative accessories.

With just a few thoughtful essentials, an empty area of the kitchen can become the most sought-after spot in the house. Tucked into a charming nook, the plank-topped Arlo round table cozies up to café-style seating – which include the solid oak Bayfield side chairs. Bright, comfy pillows and a calming piece of art help create an irresistible dining space, where early mornings are spent curled up with croissants and coffee, and late evenings linger over dessert and wine.

Inspiration for a rustic l-shaped light wood floor, beige floor, exposed beam and vaulted ceiling open concept kitchen remodel in San Francisco with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, paneled appliances, an island and white countertops

My daughter wanted to build a fairy garden so we converted an old end table into a planter and used a mix of sedums and other groundcovers. This photo is from the day it was planted so it should get even better as things fill in.

In this small space, shutters lend spaciousness and structure. With shutters as a backdrop for the dining table, every table setting looks even more delicious!

Exterior deck doubles the living space for my teeny tiny house! All the wood for the deck is reclaimed from fallen trees and siding from an old house. The french doors and kitchen window is also reclaimed. Photo: Chibi Moku

When this suburban family decided to renovate their kitchen, they knew that they wanted a little more space. Advance Design worked together with the homeowner to design a kitchen that would work for a large family who loved to gather regularly and always ended up in the kitchen! So the project began with extending out an exterior wall to accommodate a larger island and more moving-around space between the island and the perimeter cabinetry.
Style was important to the cook, who began collecting accessories and photos of the look she loved for months prior to the project design. She was drawn to the brightness of whites and grays, and the design accentuated this color palette brilliantly with the incorporation of a warm shade of brown woods that originated from a dining room table that was a family favorite. Classic gray and white cabinetry from Dura Supreme hits the mark creating a perfect balance between bright and subdued. Hints of gray appear in the bead board detail peeking just behind glass doors, and in the application of the handsome floating wood shelves between cabinets. White subway tile is made extra interesting with the application of dark gray grout lines causing it to be a subtle but noticeable detail worthy of attention.
Suede quartz Silestone graces the countertops with a soft matte hint of color that contrasts nicely with the presence of white painted cabinetry finished smartly with the brightness of a milky white farm sink. Old melds nicely with new, as antique bronze accents are sprinkled throughout hardware and fixtures, and work together unassumingly with the sleekness of stainless steel appliances.
The grace and timelessness of this sparkling new kitchen maintains the charm and character of a space that has seen generations past. And now this family will enjoy this new space for many more generations to come in the future with the help of the team at Advance Design Studio.

The builder, Stellar Blu, wanted something a little different for this Parade of Homes home but Wake Forest can be a tricky market and so it was important to maintain marketability. We chose to use leaded glass, LED in cabinet lighting and other subtile features to create a timeless design.

Modern open white kitchen with dinning area bar and serving area. The uses of floating shelves keeps the kitchen open and light. Stainless steel appliances and elongated brushed nickel hardware bring a modern touch. Pebble Caesarstone compliments the white shaker style doors, while glass globe light and glass doors lighten the look. Beautiful 7" oak hardwood floors complete the area.

We paired an extendable rustic dining table with the clean lines of modern leather chairs (easy to clean) and a leather bench (comfy for toddlers). The juxtaposition of a modern light fixture and artwork in a traditional space makes this a adult friendly space as well.
