Inspiration for a southwestern kitchen remodel in Los Angeles

Million Dollar Listing’s celebrity broker Ryan Serhant reached out to Decor Aid to stage a luxurious Brooklyn condo development. The only caveat was that our interior designers had 48 hours to come up with the design, concept, and source all the furniture. Always up for a challenge, we partnered with Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams to create this contemporary gem. Staying true to their contemporary vision, our interior decorators sourced all pieces through MGBW. Starting in the living room, we placed the Gunner Sofa, a piece that offers clean-lined living. The thin arms and slanted profile emphasize the modern elegance of the home. Through the use of various contemporary patterns and textures we were able to avoid the one-dimensional ambiance, and instead, the apartment’s living room feels detailed and thought out, without making anyone who enters overcrowded with home decor. The Melrose cocktail table was sourced for its sleek, stainless steel and glass design that contrasts with more substantial pieces in the space, while also complementing the contemporary style. The glass design gives the illusion that this table takes up less space, giving the living room design a light and airy feel all around. The living space transformed into something out of a decor catalog with just the right amount of personality, creating a room that follows through with our starting design, yet functional for everyday use. After the living room area, we set our eyes on designing the master bedroom. Our interior decorators were immediately drawn to the Celina Floating Rail Bed, it’s opulent nailhead trim, and dramatic design brings fresh sophistication to the bedroom design, while also standing out as a timeless piece that can complement various trends or styles that might be added later on to the bedroom decoration. We sourced the Roland Table Lamp to add texture, with its elaborate ribbed design, that compliments the air of masculinity the Carmen Leather Ottoman add while contrasting with the light, sleeker pieces. This difference in weight left us with a bedroom decoration that lives up to the trending modern standards, yet a space that is timeless and stylish no matter the decor trends. Once we finished and the project was completed, our senior designers took a step back and took in all of their hard labor. Decor Aid was able to make this newly built blank space and design it into a modern wonder small brooklyn apartment. The MGBW furnishings were all hand-picked to keep an even balance of complementing and contrasting contemporary pieces, which was one of our more critical apartment decorating ideas. The apartment home decor brings to life this modern concept in a way that isn’t overbearing and shows off their style making the space in every sense an accurate reflection of a chic contemporary style.

A remodeled retro kitchen mixed with a few original architectural elements of this Spanish home. Highlights here are aqua glazed lava stone counter tops, custom designed hand silk-screened fabrics, and children's art inside the upper cabinet panels. Bedroom - traditional master dark wood floor bedroom idea in San Francisco with beige walls

This nursery was a Gender Surprise Nursery and was one of our most memorable designs to date. The client was having her second baby and didn't want to know the baby's gender, yet wanted to have an over-the-top, elegant royal nursery completed to her liking before she had the baby. So we designed two complete nurseries down to every detail...one for a boy and one for a girl. Then when the mom-to-be went for her ultrasound, the doctor sealed up a picture in an envelope and mailed it to our studio. I couldn't wait for the secret to be revealed and was so tickled to be the only person besides the doctor to know the gender of the baby! I opened the envelop and saw an obvious BOY in the image and got right to work ordering up all of the appropriate boy nursery furniture, bedding, wall art, lighting and decor. We had to stage most of the nursery's decor here in our studio and when the furniture was set to arrive, we drove to NJ, the family left the house, and we kicked into gear receiving the nursery furniture and installing the crib bedding, wall art, rug, and accessories down to the tiniest little detail. We completed the decorative mural around the room and when finished, locked the door behind us! We even taped paper over the windows and taped around the outside of the door so no "glow" might show through the door crack at night! The nursery would sit and wait for Mommy and baby to arrive home from the hospital. Such a fun project and so full of excitement and anticipation. When Mom and baby Luke arrived home from the hospital and she saw her nursery for the first time, she contacted me and said "the nursery is breath taking and made me cry!" A daring combination of forms and finishes yielded an exciting contemporary/industrial hybrid. In a converted wedge-shaped factory building, this loft’s quirky shape was celebrated, not disguised. Contrasting flooring demarcates what is, in fact, a literal work triangle. The island’s unusual five-sided shape proudly reiterates the room’s footprint; the three waterfall ends accentuate its one-of-a-kind geometry. Four different materials were chosen to establish a playful dialogue between light, dark, and texture: caramel-stained rift cut oak on open cabinets; matte charcoal gray paint on tall and wall cabinets; brushed bronze oil-rubbed wire mesh inserts for bases; and panels in a laminate resembling knotty weathered wood. White quartz countertops provide a unifying feature. Open cabinets are singular for their asymmetrical placement and, in some spots, open-ended configuration within the tall units. The breathtaking dining table was fashioned from two free-form live edge planks, joined by a ribbon of clear epoxy resin, thus creating the illusion of a stream meandering through fallen trees. Black elements contribute an industrial edge: an open-framed metal wall shelf over the sink; iron table legs; a mix of dining chairs in mid-century wire mesh, molded plastic, and retro aluminum; and machinery castors on the low-slung coffee table. The homeowners of this California Cottage wanted a beach vibe in their 1700 sq. ft. home. They wanted to make the most of their spaces by widening doorways, adding wood floors throughout the house, and adding a skylight. Create a summer party with the feel of Mexico, Spain or sunny California! Outdoor patios can be transformed with bright summer colors. I decorated with festive tableware, placemats, dishes, glassware, napkins, placemats, candles and pillows from Pier One. Handmade pottery by Dorothy Dhont give a unique look to the setting. The succulent arrangement was created from the garden to make the table become part of the background. Lights strung from the ceiling fans give a festive flare to the party. The patio architecture, interior design, landscaping and art direction were all done by Amy Vangsgard.
