This foyer was originally a medium tan color with a heavy, dark chandelier. The client wanted to brighten up the space and create a more modern entry. The outdated chandelier was replaced with a chrome one with plenty of light. The warm wood floor was partially covered with a gray, blue and white rug. A gray upholstered bench with nailhead trim was added as a place to set bags and purses when entering. An antique wood cabinet that belonged to the client was painted in a pale gray Annie Sloan chalk paint and the hardware was updated to a brushed nickel. Great vintage piece loaded with character! Painted in Annie Sloan White Chalk Paint. Another piece where the imperfections were made to perfection! Heavily distressed for a warm and worn feel. There is so much detail here. The top drawer has inlays and a raised design. The three larger drawers have a raised, scroll woodwork design. Along the bottom is a scalloped cutout wood piece. Stands on carved legs that are on wheels. The hardware is original and has great aged, patina. You can zoom in on any picture for a closer view. Along the bottom and the sides you will see where the vaneer had started to lift. Some areas are missing and some have been glued down. This is not the first piece where I have done this. It all blends in great with the finish and I think, adds more Shabby character! You will see in the last picture along the back where a mirror once sat. That was also painted. Really only noticeable when looking at it from the side. The piece is very sturdy and well made. It stands 45 1/2". 36" across and 19" wide.
