This is actually the second time Total Renos has done this kitchen. The owner of the company used to live in this house as a child. When he got into Renovations and cabinet making he renovated his parents kitchen for them. The before pictures show this beautiful Blue Wash kitchen. It was nice to go back and update this now outdated kitchen. Our Clients chose White Shaker Cabinetry, with a light Grey Quartz, and 4x12 grey subway tiles. We took out the bulkhead and added Top Box and Crown as well as updated the railing and lighting.

This transitional kitchen featuring Bilotta Custom Cabinetry is a favorite project of Paulette Gambacorta’s, senior designer at Bilotta Kitchens. The client lives in Manhattan and purchased this classic Victorian house as their weekend escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The renovation planned to provide plenty of storage space and appliances while still having backyard views of the Hudson, perfect for entertaining and holidays. However, kitchen plans changed when the homeowners decided to have a child and their intended weekend getaway home became the city dwellers’ permanent residence. Having the home be their main residence, meant the kitchen had to function for everyday living as well as for entertaining and large family and friend gatherings. The perimeter cabinetry is a white dove paint and the island and pantry are quarter-sawn white oak with a stain. The pantry has tapered legs for a free-standing furniture look. The countertop is Calcutta Super White Quartzite with a Blue Ceramic Waterworks backsplash. The 48” Thermador range has a custom-made wall hood in Antiqued Brass and Antiqued steel by Amore Design LLC. The refrigerator, freezer, and wine unit are Subzero with the wine fridge outside the cooking area for easy access. This Urbanized Farmhouse look is a compromise between spouses. He does the cooking, she wanted it to have a certain "flavor"......with a little bit of compromise from both, they have a FANTASTIC new space! From a very disfunctional kitchen to a space that allows for the "sous chef"(youngest child) to help out dad & lots of area for prep, clean up, storage & seating. The "man" space is the gray stained cherry wood & then add in mixture of off white painted cabinetry w/a touch of blue.......classic!

Summary of Scope: gut renovation/reconfiguration of kitchen, coffee bar, mudroom, powder room, 2 kids baths, guest bath, master bath and dressing room, kids study and playroom, study/office, laundry room, restoration of windows, adding wallpapers and window treatments Background/description: The house was built in 1908, my clients are only the 3rd owners of the house. The prior owner lived there from 1940s until she died at age of 98! The old home had loads of character and charm but was in pretty bad condition and desperately needed updates. The clients purchased the home a few years ago and did some work before they moved in (roof, HVAC, electrical) but decided to live in the house for a 6 months or so before embarking on the next renovation phase. I had worked with the clients previously on the wife's office space and a few projects in a previous home including the nursery design for their first child so they reached out when they were ready to start thinking about the interior renovations. The goal was to respect and enhance the historic architecture of the home but make the spaces more functional for this couple with two small kids. Clients were open to color and some more bold/unexpected design choices. The design style is updated traditional with some eclectic elements. An early design decision was to incorporate a dark colored french range which would be the focal point of the kitchen and to do dark high gloss lacquered cabinets in the adjacent coffee bar, and we ultimately went with dark green.

Inspiration for a small timeless home design remodel in San Francisco

For this young family, their existing space wasn’t working for their lifestyle. Besides the aesthetics, they felt the kitchen wasn’t living up to its full potential. A list of their wants/needs included an open, sleek design that allowed their three children to eat at the island and have a place at a nearby desk to complete homework or watch television while dinner was being prepared. With the family’s main traffic area leading directly from the garage into the kitchen, it was critical to consider a place for the kids to place their schoolwork, sports equipment, art supplies and even bring in groceries. With all of that in mind, we added lockers for each child right at the garage entry, with the idea that the cabinets could be transitioned into additional pantry storage as the family matures. With the new open space, we were able to update the room using dark and light grays, on the cabinetry and walls. Combining the elegance of traditional design with the fresh and refined look of contemporary style trends, we mixed natural wood and stone and dark oak flooring with the contemporary look of paneled cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, sleek hardware, and a glass and marble tile backsplash. By mixing these materials the home’s traditional heritage is kept intact, but the young tech savvy family now has a fantastic space where they can gather for family meals and entertainment. Homes that are big and luxurious are now emerging in the fields of the Hamptons, and this young couple decided to invest in one! They were drawn to the strong construction and the generous space the home offered, as well as the large exterior they found perfect for their young child. These clients wanted to offer an outdoor environment which they don't have during the week while staying in their Soho loft. We went with a warm modern design, combining clean lines with earth tones and organic elements. The wooden accents anchor down the feeling of coziness as well as matches the beautiful exterior of the home.
