The Big Bang dining table is based on our classic Vega table, but with a surprising new twist. Big Bang is extendable to accommodate more guests, with center storage for two fold-out butterfly table leaves, tucked out of sight. Collapsed, Big Bang measures 50”x50” to accommodate daily life in our client’s small dining nook, but expands to either 72” or 94” when needed. Big Bang was originally commissioned in white oak, but is available in all of our solid wood materials. Several coats of hand-applied clear finish accentuate Big Bangs natural wood surface & add a layer of extra protection. The Big Bang is a physical theory that describes how the universe… and this table, expanded. Folding doors at the end of the family room open to bring the pool inside. A strong visual axis connects the fire pavilion and pool with the family room, encouraging a walk outside to the distant jewel. High windows and vertical siding are inspiration to invoke the interior of a barn. The family room is open and comfortable for small or large gatherings.

These homeowners are well known to our team as repeat clients and asked us to convert a dated deck overlooking their pool and the lake into an indoor/outdoor living space. A new footer foundation with tile floor was added to withstand the Indiana climate and to create an elegant aesthetic. The existing transom windows were raised and a collapsible glass wall with retractable screens was added to truly bring the outdoor space inside. Overhead heaters and ceiling fans now assist with climate control and a custom TV cabinet was built and installed utilizing motorized retractable hardware to hide the TV when not in use. As the exterior project was concluding we additionally removed 2 interior walls and french doors to a room to be converted to a game room. We removed a storage space under the stairs leading to the upper floor and installed contemporary stair tread and cable handrail for an updated modern look. The first floor living space is now open and entertainer friendly with uninterrupted flow from inside to outside and is simply stunning.

A spacious colonial in the heart of the waterfront community of Greenhaven still had its original 1950s kitchen. A renovation without an addition added space by reconfiguring, and the wall between kitchen and family room was removed to create open flow. This Chelsea loft is an example of making a smaller space go a long way. We needed to fit two offices, two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a den for TV watching, as well as two baths and a laundry room in only 1,350 square feet!

This Portland 1929 Tudor mix home was in need of a few luxury additions. Designed by architect Stuart Emmons of Emmons Architects and built by Hammer & Hand, additions to the home included a green roof, two-person shower, soaking tub, and a two-story addition with a new living room and art studio.
