Bennett Design Co.For this kitchen remodel, the clients opted to maintain the location and footprint of the original kitchen in their 1960’s ranch style home. That meant we had our work cut out for us to maximize the counter space while providing enough storage for this growing family. We ultimately decided to maximize the working counter space by the sink and range and added a large pantry wall in the adjacent dining room for bulky items and food storage. We chose a lightly stained slab style cabinet to capture the era of the home but paired it with white high-gloss upper cabinets and white quartz to make the space also look fresh and functional. A light green paint helps pull in the accent color featured in the backsplash while adding warmth to the home. We finished the space with a unique light fixture and a perfectly modern dining table.

LiveWell OutdoorsThe client was looking for a better way to utilize the small backyard of their Baltimore rowhome. The project included a patio using Outdoor Living by Belgard Aquaroc (permeable paver); a water feature using a natural Basalt column with LED light rings and mexican beach gravel; a workbench and storage cabinet with a Flagstone thermal cap and cedar trim; a wrought iron fence and pergola skeleton for plants to grow; wood fence on top of solid painted block; perennial plants in planter boxes; and landscape lighting.

We were able to add an expandable dining table, incorporated their existing chippendale chairs and sofa to provide plenty of seating. All while keeping the space open, bright and airy!

Right from the beginning it was evident that this Coquitlam Renovation was unique. It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... Additional details like the geometric wall paper in the foyer, the vintage light fixture in the living room, and the bold drapery help to tie everything together to create a cohesive mid-century modern feel throughout the entire home.
Twisted Rock Terrascape & Design, Inc.Our client wanted a maintenance free yard with no grass and minimal plantings. We designed and constructed a simple but very effective yard that suited their young family well. With a synthetic grass area for their children to play (and a future play structure) as well as a large paver patio for a dining table and chimenea for gatherings, this yard is all about enjoying the moments, not doing yard work!! We dressed it up with a few trees that will grow to provide some privacy as well as a nice cedar fence and privacy screens. Concrete edging rounds out the project that will ensure many years of enjoyment with no hassles!!

For this bathroom it needed to functional for this growing family but we didn't want to sacrifice style. We did furniture vanities from Wayfair and mixed in high-low design with the tile work and upped the style by addinging in hanging pendants and tile shower surround.
Castle Building & RemodelingThis 1907 home in the Ericsson neighborhood of South Minneapolis needed some love. A tiny, nearly unfunctional kitchen and leaking bathroom were ready for updates. The homeowners wanted to embrace their heritage, and also have a simple and sustainable space for their family to grow. The new spaces meld the home’s traditional elements with Traditional Scandinavian design influences.
In the kitchen, a wall was opened to the dining room for natural light to carry between rooms and to create the appearance of space. Traditional Shaker style/flush inset custom white cabinetry with paneled front appliances were designed for a clean aesthetic. Custom recycled glass countertops, white subway tile, Kohler sink and faucet, beadboard ceilings, and refinished existing hardwood floors complete the kitchen after all new electrical and plumbing.
In the bathroom, we were limited by space! After discussing the homeowners’ use of space, the decision was made to eliminate the existing tub for a new walk-in shower. By installing a curbless shower drain, floating sink and shelving, and wall-hung toilet; Castle was able to maximize floor space! White cabinetry, Kohler fixtures, and custom recycled glass countertops were carried upstairs to connect to the main floor remodel.
White and black porcelain hex floors, marble accents, and oversized white tile on the walls perfect the space for a clean and minimal look, without losing its traditional roots! We love the black accents in the bathroom, including black edge on the shower niche and pops of black hex on the floors.

Firecracker, LLCThis active family with two young boys wanted a place to grow food, lounge in the front yard with friends and have blooms upon blooms of midwestern flowers to enjoy. Custom tuteurs, vegetable beds and benches frame the center of the garden, surrounded by low maintenance flowering shrubs, trees and perennials. Evergreen grasses form the understory of the borders. Rockledge Design + ArchitectureFor this kids’ bathroom in Wexford, our clients wanted to create a space that would grow along with their two young daughters throughout the years. Something that would be fun and playful now, with lots of color — but stylish enough to stand up to teenagers later on.
To achieve this, our design centered on classic materials that didn’t sacrifice character: Crisp black and white zellige tile with tons of texture and sheen. A natural, oiled teak double vanity. Bright and clean polished chrome plumbing fixtures. To keep the room from feeling too sterile, we combined a sophisticated blue-green wall paint with cheerful, saturated pops of color throughout the bath linens and décor. Elements that are fun and youthful, that can be easily updated as the girls’ tastes evolve.
To maximize function in the space, we added storage at the double vanity with large drawers and medicine cabinets above. Step stools below tuck neatly out of the way when not in use. We also included a tiled “shelf” that spans the full width of the tub in lieu of a smaller traditional shower niche. A super durable, low-profile cast iron tub insert makes bathtime easy — for kids and the family dog, alike!
