Castle Building & RemodelingThis 1907 home in the Ericsson neighborhood of South Minneapolis needed some love. A tiny, nearly unfunctional kitchen and leaking bathroom were ready for updates. The homeowners wanted to embrace their heritage, and also have a simple and sustainable space for their family to grow. The new spaces meld the home’s traditional elements with Traditional Scandinavian design influences.
In the kitchen, a wall was opened to the dining room for natural light to carry between rooms and to create the appearance of space. Traditional Shaker style/flush inset custom white cabinetry with paneled front appliances were designed for a clean aesthetic. Custom recycled glass countertops, white subway tile, Kohler sink and faucet, beadboard ceilings, and refinished existing hardwood floors complete the kitchen after all new electrical and plumbing.
In the bathroom, we were limited by space! After discussing the homeowners’ use of space, the decision was made to eliminate the existing tub for a new walk-in shower. By installing a curbless shower drain, floating sink and shelving, and wall-hung toilet; Castle was able to maximize floor space! White cabinetry, Kohler fixtures, and custom recycled glass countertops were carried upstairs to connect to the main floor remodel.
White and black porcelain hex floors, marble accents, and oversized white tile on the walls perfect the space for a clean and minimal look, without losing its traditional roots! We love the black accents in the bathroom, including black edge on the shower niche and pops of black hex on the floors.

The Green Room Landscape ArchitectureThe historic Casa Blanca development in Paradise Valley is home to this bustling Moroccan-inspired home adjacent to an inspiring community cacti garden. The garden spaces utilize mountain views while, simultaneously, the expanded sculptural walls provide privacy and security from the development’s amenities. Strong, clean, earthy elements are key to the overall design parameters, creating a contemporary and balanced garden. A simple palette of unusual succulents and jasmine vines grow up from the raw rusted earth. The layered steel fireplace (also Moroccan-inspired) anchors the space from many vantage points, acting as a welcoming beacon from the interior.
Living Gardens Landscape DesignOur homeowners were looking for a garden where they could sit by the fire, grow vegetable and hear the sound of water. Their home was new construction in a modern farmhouse style. We used gravel and concrete as paving. Board formed concrete firepit keeps it feeling modern. The vegetable beds supply season vegetables and herbs.

In just 1,400 square feet, not only did we give them a pool and spa, but also an inviting area for lounging and eating, created from repurposed vintage brick. Their love of Mexican design is seen in a new Talavera-tiled outdoor shower area. Softly billowing California native plants mingle with a growing collection of cacti and succulents.

Melissa Hill Home DesignThis is the sweetest kitchen in a traditional cape style home. A favorite of ours as we stepped up to the challenge of updating without making any major changes to the footprint and flooring. Organization and storage ended up being plentiful. We managed to give our client a timeless yet fun colorful space for preparing meals. Brass accents add a touch of elegance. A new window added a lot of light to a dark space as it does double duty with a place to grow herbs. The cabinet style is timeless and the clean lines allowed some room for fun by bringing the navy ondulated backsplash tile right to the ceiling. The space is open to a very cozy dining area so the calmness of blue carries through. We were able to give our client a refresh while staying true to the homes calling stylistically.
Artisan Kitchens and BathsThis kitchen designed for the Junior League of Buffalo 2017 Decorator Showhouse was a full gut of the space.
There were plumbing and HVAC pipes in the space that required custom modifications to cabinetry. Part of the hearth has a false back on the cabinet to accommodate some of the pipes. Additionally, the 10’ ceilings required a custom combination of cabinets and crown molding to reach the ceiling.
The space contained 4 doorways so the use of angled cabinetry allowed for easier access in and out of the space.
The room includes special design features such as the wood hearth to house the ventilation for over the range, custom under cabinet lighting and a wet bar housing a beverage center and an appliance for growing microgreens.

TVL Creative Ltd.With a baby on the way and old cabinets falling apart at the seams, a kitchen remodel was the number one priority for our clients in their charming, historic Denver home. It was essential to make the kitchen feel more spacious and open, while still maintaining it’s original footprint and privacy from the rest of the house. Cabinets on three out of four walls caved into the center of the kitchen, making it feel small and difficult for even two people to be moving about! By eliminating cabinetry on the west wall, we were able to not only make the kitchen feel bigger and brighter, but we also revealed the characteristic exposed brick that was hiding behind a string of cabinets! The brick wall adds so much character and, paired with the wainscoting, is a beautiful nod to the home’s historic charm. As passionate cooks and hosts, it was crucial for our clients to have an island to utilize the counter space for prepping food and having a place for friends or family to sit and chat while they cooked a meal. Small but mighty, the island is the center of attention with a beautiful black walnut butcher block countertop, cabinets for storage, and seating for three! Our favorite feature in this kitchen sits just above the gas range; the custom wood surround on the range hood was handcrafted onsite as the final finishing touch. The elements of the natural wood, soft French grey cabinets, satin brass hardware and intricate marble herringbone backsplash all come together on this one wall, giving you a moment of cohesive glee. We are thrilled with the transformation, and our clients are elated to have a beautiful new kitchen for their new, growing family.
