The Setup
For this primary bathroom project, the homeowners sought to transform their outdated, beige-toned space into a bright, functional sanctuary. The existing bathroom felt cramped and lifeless, with a small shower and limited storage options. The goal was to create a fresh, updated bathroom that maximizes the existing footprint while addressing specific desires for a more open, organized space with timeless materials.
Design objectives:
Brighten the bathroom and eliminate the dated beige color scheme
Install a freestanding tub in a compact space
Create a larger, more open shower without encroaching on the existing foot print too much
Incorporate hidden storage solutions
Maintain the existing bathroom layout while improving functionality
Update lighting and fixtures to create a contemporary feel
The Remodel
Design challenges to be solved:
- Compact Space Utilization – The small bathroom required careful planning to accommodate a freestanding tub while maintaining functionality and avoiding overcrowding.
- Hidden Storage Integration – The clients wanted a discreet hamper solution that wouldn’t clutter the limited floor space.
- Shower Niche Placement – With plumbing limitations and the clients’ desire to preserve their wavy accent tile wall, finding the perfect niche spot became a creative puzzle.
- Tile and Finish Coordination – Selecting complementary white tile and floor materials that worked harmoniously together.
- Larger Shower Space – Make the shower feel more open and brighter
The Renewed Space
Design solutions:
- Strategic Tub Placement – The freestanding tub was carefully positioned to maximize space, with its faucet strategically placed to allow easy access while preserving walking room. We reduced the counter depth just a bit by the tub, allowing more room for hamper cabinet and window access.
- Concealed Hamper Storage – A custom pull-out hamper was integrated into the vanity (right side, by tub), providing discreet storage within an 18-inch depth constraint.
- Shower Plumbing Wall Niche – We shifted the niche left, just enough to work around the plumbing infrastructure and still score a roomy storage spot that looks intentional.
- Sophisticated Selections – Porcelanosa curvy white tile, Kohler brushed gold fixtures, and a neutral grey tile floor created a simple, timeless aesthetic that will be loved years to come.
- Open Shower – Replacing the side wall with a clear glass surround, continuing the tile on the ceiling and extending the footprint opened up this area to the room while allowing more natural lighting into the shower space.
This bathroom transformation shows how thoughtful design turns challenges into opportunities. Brushed gold fixtures add warmth to the fresh white palette, while the perfectly balanced floor tile brings just the right depth. A partially glass-fronted vanity introduces subtle charm, giving the space a unique edge. Once cramped and outdated, this bathroom now feels bright, spacious, and serene—a testament to how every design detail makes a difference.

As you walk in, the main floor unfolds into a seamless living experience. Walls and columns were expertly removed to reveal a voluminous, open-concept great room. Natural light filters through generous windows, illuminating layers of sophisticated textures and warm neutral tones. The thoughtfully integrated millwork subtly divides the space without disrupting flow, while elegant sconces above the breakfast nook infuse intimacy—creating a serene yet inviting atmosphere.
At the heart of the home sits a striking, oversized kitchen arrangement featuring dual islands: one devoted to food prep, the other to gathering and conversation. The islands are finished in complementary palettes—one light, one dark—mirroring the balance of materials and colors across the open floor plan. This innovative layout fosters community and showcases design depth through thoughtful texture layering, from stone countertops to artisanal hardware.
Swatch’s signature layering approach brings dimension and warmth throughout these interconnected rooms. Subtle pops of earthy hues alongside jewel-tone accents are woven through upholstery, decorative lighting, and artwork. Organic elements like wood flooring and natural stone surfaces reinforce the Modern European aesthetic: clean lines with a lived-in elegance, where each material choice feels intentional and inviting .
Styled to feel luxurious yet approachable, the space features a discussed blend of classic European elegance and contemporary comfort. Plush fabrics—such as velvet cushions and soft linens—contrast simple, modern furniture silhouettes. Freestanding lantern-style pendants and delicate sconces enhance ambiance throughout, while curated décor from different European influences tells a rich, nuanced design story.

Walking into the soothing palette of this primary bath is a pleasure. Angling the freestanding tub softened the lines of the space, added interest and on a practical level, makes cleaning a breeze. The softly veined tile floor is also at the same angle as the tub and extends the lines. Flanking his and her vanities were updated in beautiful grey with marble tops.
The shower design continues the complementary theme. The glossy white tile provides a light, clean feeling. The angled frameless shower door is low iron to ensure full clarity. The shower seat, corner shelves, and a hand-held shower head are lovely amenities.
The soft, wall color completes the palette beautifully!

On the kitchen island you'll find Cambria Bradshaw combined with Cambria Ramsey quartz countertops. The light swirls of taupe in the Bradshaw makes Ramsey the perfect complementary design. The beauty of Cambria continues to flow through this home as you will see Cambria Canterbury, Halstead, and Clyde on three vanities; Cambria Laneshaw on the fireplace surround and Hollinsbrook for the lower level wetbar. In the laundry room we used Wilsonart "Mountain Passage" laminate countertops.

Took out an old wood finish kitchen and added in this new sleek clean white kitchen with a complementary grey island. Shaker inspired door style, brushed nickel hardware, 2″ thick Quartz counters and a beautifully designed island for family events or a simple breakfast in the morning. This kitchen filled in a entry way into the dinning room but it was totally worth the extra space. Storage with a floor to ceiling pantry, drawer pullouts and epic corner cabinet pullouts makes this kitchen ready for any event. But really, let’s all just appreciate how that floor balances this whole space. All of the yes.

This Joelton transitional kitchen design shows the impact of changing cabinets and countertops. The compact kitchen maximizes the available space with floor to ceiling cabinets that offer ample storage. The design utilizes the same layout but replaces the cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, and flooring to give the space a completely fresh look. Classic white cabinets pair with a dark gray subway tile backsplash and complementary dark finish hardware. Glass front cabinets frame the kitchen window, surrounding a double bowl kitchen sink, and a gray and white countertop pulls the design together. Dark gray flooring complements the style and creates a warm, welcoming space.

The home, built in the mid ’90s, needed an update. However, the family wanted to keep the renovations neutral enough to accommodate future changes and transformations. They had several project goals, including:
* Eliminate the family’s dining room table
* Add additional storage
* Create the new kitchen design within the footprint of their existing floor plan
* Make the refrigerator more easily accessible
To accomplish this, we removed the clunky dining room table and integrated seating into the home’s kitchen island. To remedy their storage woes we installed three large pantry cabinets. We also relocated the fridge for easier access. To add some style to the space, the family upgraded their cabinets to Showplace cabinets featuring the freeport door style in lyptus wood with a truffle finish. They replaced their existing countertops with Cambria Canterbury and installed a complementary Elkay granite sink.

The renovation touches every major living area. In the kitchen, Mullwoods cabinetry appears in three complementary finishes — stained wood bases, painted uppers, and a deep navy island — unified by Dekton countertops and anchored by a Wolf 36-inch range beneath a Stanisci custom maple hood. Sub-Zero panel-ready refrigeration and a Cove dishwasher integrate seamlessly into the cabinetry. A Ceramic Tiles International Chalmers Metalbrick Pearl backsplash adds a subtle textured element, while a glass-enclosed wine room creates a dramatic transition between the kitchen and the main living area.
The primary bathroom pairs Mullwoods vanity cabinetry in a muted sage tone with ENVI Quartz Calacatta Sol countertops and Brizo fixtures in a warm champagne bronze finish. A Kohler Underscore soaking tub sits adjacent to a frameless Big D glass shower enclosure with Caesar Ceramiche patterned tile walls and dual rain showerheads. Two walk-in closets feature dark-toned custom organization systems with integrated Hardware Resources cabinet lighting, each finished with statement light fixtures — a crystal raindrop chandelier and a modern starburst pendant.
The powder room features Schumacher floral wallpaper paired with Mullwoods cabinetry and a coordinating colored Kohler sink. The laundry room and mudroom are outfitted in deep navy Mullwoods cabinetry with a Blanco utility sink, Moen fixtures, ENVI Quartz countertops, and generous built-in storage with bench seating and a pull-out drying rack. A dining room with dark navy built-in entertainment cabinetry and Galerie wallcoverings, a home office with stained wood built-ins, and a family living area with a stone fireplace surround and built-in shelving complete the renovation. Marvin windows appear throughout the home, and Sherwin Williams paint provides the neutral palette that ties each space together. Just minutes from the wooded trails at Kopf Family Reservation and the Lake Erie shoreline, this Westwinds home now reflects the community’s balance of natural surroundings and elevated family living.

Location was a key factor for the developer of these 72 luxury beachfront condominiums in New Rochelle, NY, offering prime real estate with spectacular water views, all within a short commute to New York City. An unusual aspect of this project was the developer’s commitment to offer prospective buyers completely customizable interior buildouts. The architect and developer teamed with Bilotta to devise a program offering 17 stains, 17 paint finishes and a variety of door styles, giving homeowners total control of their kitchen and bathroom details and accessories, a significant and successful selling point.
In this particular unit, sand, surf, and sunshine are transported indoors with light-reflecting white cabinetry atop natural oak flooring, punctuated by a slate blue island that seats five. Practical blue-gray quartz countertops are a complementary echo of the island’s hue. A generous molding treatment emphasizes the tall ceiling height. There’s plenty of room for two pantry cabinets, as well as a wine refrigerator in the island. “Flying Saucer” island pendants and a cubist dining chandelier add contemporary flair.
The stunning highlight of each residence is a 30-foot-long wall of glass facing the water. With 2,400- 2,700 square feet apiece, the proportions of the open plan kitchen, dining and family room live like a gracious freestanding home.
