There were many questions and all were answered with sincere conversation and positive – innovation – on how we could achieve our goals. Innovative provided us with professional consultants, who listened and were courteous and creative, with solid knowledge and informative judgement. When they didn’t have an answer, they did the research. They developed a comprehensive project plan that exceeded our expectations. Every item on our long list was checked-off. All agreed on work was fulfilled and they completed all this in just under four months. Innovative took care of putting together a team of skilled professional specialists who were all dedicated to make everything right. Engineering, construction, supervision, and I cannot even begin to describe how much thanks we have for the demolition crew! Kitchens by Good GuysThe home was a very outdated Southwest style with Aztec architectural elements, and it was time for a transformation to the beautiful modern style you see now. We ripped out all the flooring throughout, squared off and removed a lot of the Aztec styled elements in the home, redesigned the fireplace and opened up the kitchen. In the kitchen, we opened up a wall that made the kitchen feel very closed in, allowing us room to make a more linear and open kitchen. Opening up the kitchen and its new layout allowed us to create a large accent island that is truly a statement piece. Our clients hand selected every finish you see, including the rare quartzite that has beautiful pops of purple and waterfall edges. To create some contrast, the island has a pretty neutral taupe acrylic cabinetry and the perimeter has textured laminate cabinets with a fun white geometric backsplash. Our clients use their TV in their kitchen, so we created a custom built in just for their TV on the backwall. For the fireplace to now match the homes new style, we reshaped it to have sleek lines and had custom metal pieces acid washed for the center with stacked stone on the sides for texture. Enjoy!
Safferstone InteriorsDennis and Joe have a large, light-filled house. New construction meant lofted space and open floor plans with traditional styling. Running a busy dental practice by day and engaged in a rich social life by night, this couple needed a professional to take the lead on making their house a home.
That’s my cue!
They wanted to take risks, and stay away from “matchy-matchy”. We gussied up a plain ol’ TV room and gave it a healthy dose of luxury.
Our plan was initially inspired by an abstract painting hanging over their stone fireplace. We brought in their love of the outdoors to make things cozy and used family furniture whenever possible for nostalgia and comfort.
I took their love for one-of-a-kind objects and started making a design plan, aiming to solve their biggest frustration: the family room. They had a tortured relationship with a “forgotten family room,” a great space that was spacious and bright, but not at all cozy or joyful, and certainly not “them.”
I wanted to create a cozy space functional for everyday curling up with puppies and watching TV after dinner, yet chic enough for hosting the pre-dinner kitchen overflow and cocktails during parties.
I went looking for contrasting textures and materials. I wanted to balance patterns and scale, and use non-traditional colors as neutrals to create an overall sense of “BAM!”
Dennis and Joe loved the nod to the classics juxtaposed with new and different globally-inspired pieces. For this project our design aesthetic can be described as Middle Eastern/tribal meets mid-century modern. We played to their sensible side with proportion and balance, and stayed as far away from boring/bleh as we could.
You could say this room was pretty successful...It was featured in DC Modern Luxury. (#nobigdeal, right?)
From there we moved on to other spaces.. We added colorful pillows and sheer drapery to finish off their formal living room. We kept an inherited bedroom set from Dennis’ Mom and added color, draperies, and pillows to overhaul the guest bedroom.
Their project was not a rip-and-replace, we weren’t starting from scratch with a blank piece of paper.
Rather, our goal was to take what was already there and make it better, more like them. Using functionality first, we focused on giving the house a soothing, joyful aesthetic. Wills Design AssociatesThe master bath of this home had a huge transformation. It originally had a small, single vanity, a tub, and linen closet. All of that made for a choppy closed off space. We ripped everything out and opened it up. The accent tile on the shower head wall was a result of running short of marble, so I created an accent wall to stay within our project timeframe.

Our showroom space allows us to walk through options, point out examples, touch and feel materials...clients can then visualize and understand how certain products or materials will look in their personal space. It allows us to provide our clients with an anxiety free experience!
Fiorito Interior DesignYou don't have to own a big celebrity mansion to have a beautifully appointed house finished with unique and special materials. When my clients bought an average condo kitted out with all the average builder-grade things that average builders stuff into spaces like that, they longed to make it theirs. Being collectors of colorful Fiesta tableware and lovers of extravagant stone, we set about infusing the space with a dose of their fun personality.
There wasn’t a corner of the house that went untouched in this extensive renovation. The ground floor got a complete make-over with a new Calacatta Gold tile floor, and I designed a very special border of Lunada Bay glass mosaic tiles that outlines the edge of every room.
We ripped out a solid walled staircase and replaced it with a visually lighter cable rail system, and a custom hanging chandelier now shines over the living room.
The kitchen was redesigned to take advantage of a wall that was previously just shallow pantry storage. By opening it up and installing cabinetry, we doubled the counter space and made the kitchen much more spacious and usable. We also removed a low hanging set of upper cabinets that cut off the kitchen from the rest of the ground floor spaces. Acquarella Fantasy quartzite graces the counter surfaces and continues down in a waterfall feature in order to enjoy as much of this stone’s natural beauty as possible.
One of my favorite spaces turned out to be the primary bathroom. The scheme for this room took shape when we were at a slab warehouse shopping for material. We stumbled across a packet of a stunning quartzite called Fusion Wow Dark and immediately fell in love. We snatched up a pair of slabs for the counter as well as the back wall of the shower. My clients were eager to be rid of a tub-shower alcove and create a spacious curbless shower, which meant a full piece of stone on the entire long wall would be stunning. To compliment it, I found a neutral, sandstone-like tile for the return walls of the shower and brought it around the remaining walls of the space, capped with a coordinating chair rail. But my client's love of gold and all things sparkly led us to a wonderful mosaic. Composed of shifting hues of honey and gold, I envisioned the mosaic on the vanity wall and as a backing for the niche in the shower. We chose a dark slate tile to ground the room, and designed a luxurious, glass French door shower enclosure. Little touches like a motion-detected toe kick night light at the vanity, oversized LED mirrors, and ultra-modern plumbing fixtures elevate this previously simple bathroom.
And I designed a watery-themed guest bathroom with a deep blue vanity, a large LED mirror, toe kick lights, and customized handmade porcelain tiles illustrating marshland scenes and herons.

Tile Doctor LtdRecently it seems I am getting called out to an increasing number of new builds to sort out patchy grout issues. The reason why there have been so many issues arising is a bit of a mystery, but I put it down to a combination of things like poor quality grout, rushed installations, wet subfloors and the use of different batches.
This recently built house in the village of Darton is a great example and in this case, I suspect two different batches of the same grout had been applied. Darton by the way is a small village in the Borough of Barnsley.
Invariably these problems are picked up by the new owner on their snagging list, with the tiler long gone and the builder keen to get their final payment it is always a tricky situation to resolve. I find the best solution is to apply a Tile Doctor Grout Colourant, it’s a much quicker process than removing the old grout and replacing with new. Most new homeowners would not appreciate us ripping up their brand-new rooms and generating lots of dust in the process! Also, by using the Tile Doctor Grout Colourant it adds a barrier of the grout preventing dirt from discolouring it further down the line.
Even though the house was brand new, the Porcelain Tiled floor was not looking great. The client was happy for me to go ahead and would take up the bill with the housebuilder. I first pre-treated it with Tile Doctors Grout Colourant Pre-Treatment. This removes any contamination from the grout which might affect the adhesion of the colourant and being an acid, it also etches the surface of the grout to ensure a superior bond with the colourant.
The client chose our Light Grey colour which is one of 10 colours we offer. Once the pre-treatment had been applied, scrubbed, rinsed, and vacuumed away the floor was left to dry. Once dry we started applying the colourant, this is done with a small brush (a toothbrush is ideal) carefully scrubbing colourant into each grout joint and wiping off any excess that gets on the tiles before it is able to dry.
Once complete the newly coloured grout lines totally transformed the floor and because the grout colorant is epoxy based the grout lines will stay stain free and never get dirty.
The porcelain tiles were factory sealed so there is no need to apply a seal to the floor.
I recommended the use of Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner to keep the floor in the best condition. It is pH neutral so is far less harsh on the surface than the everyday household cleaners available. It has a minty fragrance and is mild enough to use daily. They were very happy that the floor now looked as it should have from the start and was the finishing touch to their beautiful new home.

This Calgary home needed a little more than a lick of paint and new furniture. Together with our lovely clients, we undertook a mini renovation. We ripped out the carpet on the stairs and second floor, installed a stunning new tile for the fireplace, replaced all the light fixtures, and gave the mudroom a “functional facelift” with new tile and shelving. Voila! Instant update. We also overhauled the first floor powder room (below), with our own special ode to Joanna Gaines (of HGTV’s Fixer Upper)!
Modern, rustic, not too fussy. This powder room is precious. We replaced everything from the toilet and vanity to the paper holder. We were thrilled when our clients opted for this unique cement tile, ecstatic when they chose the vintage newspaper wallpaper, and downright beside ourselves when they finished it off with the beautiful matte black paint. We’re sure Joanna Gaines would feel the exact same way.

Ashton RenovationsAt Muriel Ave. in Toronto, we undertook a comprehensive renovation project that focused primarily on the main floor, with additional updates to the flooring on the second floor. The main floor was transformed by removing walls to create a more open and spacious concept. This allowed for better flow and usability, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functional appeal of the home.
A significant part of the renovation involved enlarging the window opening above the kitchen counter and installing a new side door. Both features were fitted with specialized European black trim windows, adding a sleek, modern touch to the space. In the living area, we installed a beautiful, modern gas fireplace that serves as a focal point, providing both warmth and ambiance.
The staircase received a notable upgrade with new maple treads and a striking black aluminum railing complemented by glass panels, blending safety with contemporary design. One of the most distinctive features of this renovation is the full glass wall by the stairs, which extends to cover the opening to the basement. This not only adds a sense of openness but also allows natural light to permeate through multiple levels of the home.

New Era Builders IncThe project scope encompassed a comprehensive full renovation, transforming both the interior and exterior of the home. This included the installation of stunning new hardwood floors and durable LVP flooring, enhancing the aesthetic and functionality of the space. The renovation featured two beautifully designed bathrooms, an open-concept kitchen perfect for modern living, and the removal of a load-bearing wall to create an expansive flow throughout the main areas. Additional upgrades included recessed lighting for a contemporary ambiance, an expanded mudroom for improved organization, and complete plumbing, drywall, and paint work to refresh the home’s interiors. To top it all off, a brand new patio was added, providing an inviting outdoor space for relaxation and entertainment.
TENTEN KitchensThis young couple and their gorgeous daughter bought a fabulous home that needed some updating. The existing kitchen had good bones but they wanted additional cabinetry and built-in seating. Plus an update on the existing kitchen. New peaked subway tile backsplash, granite countertop, double sink & faucet were installed in the existing part of the kitchen along with soft close hinges, pull-outs in the pantry and lazy susans in the corners. We added a coffee bar area on the other side of the kitchen with glass front cabinets and glass shelves to show off their contents. We also added a table height granite table attached to another cabinet and wine rack. The result was a lot of new functional storage and a lovely look! Also in need of some change was the bathroom. The overwhelming green tile was dated and dark. We ripped it all out and started from scratch. The bathtub was removed and a large shower installed. The heated floor tile is wonderful and good for our cold winters! A new window, the tiled walls of the shower, granite threshold and shelf cut-out in the shower, gorgeous new shower faucet, floating vanity, comfort height toilet, updated lighting, matching sink faucet and towel bar accessories completed this upgrade! From a dark green cave to an updated, relaxing and luxurious bathroom.
Innovative Design BuildFive stars isn’t enough! Our project was to reconfigure and update the main floor of a house we recently purchased that was built in 1961. We wanted to maintain some of the unique feeling it originally had but bring it up-to-date and eliminate the closed-in rooms and downright weird layout that was the result of multiple, partial remodeling projects. We began with a long wishlist of changes which also required replacement of very antiquated plumbing, electrical wiring and HVAC. We even found a fireplace that had been walled in and needed major re-construction. Many other aspects and details on this incredible list we made included an all new kitchen layout, converting a bedroom into a master closet, adding new half-bath, completely rebuilding the master bath, and adding stone, tile and custom built cabinetry. Our design plans included many fixtures and details that we specified and required professional installation and careful handling. Innovative helped us make reasonable decisions. Their skilled staff took us through a design process that made sense. There were many questions and all were answered with sincere conversation and positive – innovation – on how we could achieve our goals. Innovative provided us with professional consultants, who listened and were courteous and creative, with solid knowledge and informative judgement. When they didn’t have an answer, they did the research. They developed a comprehensive project plan that exceeded our expectations. Every item on our long list was checked-off. All agreed on work was fulfilled and they completed all this in just under four months. Innovative took care of putting together a team of skilled professional specialists who were all dedicated to make everything right. Engineering, construction, supervision, and I cannot even begin to describe how much thanks we have for the demolition crew! Our multiple, detailed project designs from Raul and professional design advice from Mindy and the connections she recommended are all of the best quality. Diego Jr., Trevor and his team kept everything on track and neat and tidy every single day and Diego Sr., Mark, Ismael, Albert, Santiago and team are true craftsmen who follow-up and make the most minuscule woodworking details perfect. The cabinets by Tim and electrical work and installation of fixtures by Kemchan Harrilal-BB and Navindra Doolratram, and Augustine and his crew on tile and stone work – all perfection. Aisling and the office crew were always responsive to our calls and requests. And of course Clark and Eric who oversaw everything and gave us the best of the best! Ashton RenovationsAt Muriel Ave. in Toronto, we undertook a comprehensive renovation project that focused primarily on the main floor, with additional updates to the flooring on the second floor. The main floor was transformed by removing walls to create a more open and spacious concept. This allowed for better flow and usability, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functional appeal of the home.
A significant part of the renovation involved enlarging the window opening above the kitchen counter and installing a new side door. Both features were fitted with specialized European black trim windows, adding a sleek, modern touch to the space. In the living area, we installed a beautiful, modern gas fireplace that serves as a focal point, providing both warmth and ambiance.
The staircase received a notable upgrade with new maple treads and a striking black aluminum railing complemented by glass panels, blending safety with contemporary design. One of the most distinctive features of this renovation is the full glass wall by the stairs, which extends to cover the opening to the basement. This not only adds a sense of openness but also allows natural light to permeate through multiple levels of the home.
The kitchen was redesigned into an L-shaped layout with an island, optimizing both functionality and aesthetics. The inclusion of a brick backsplash above the stove offers a rustic yet stylish contrast to the modern kitchen fixtures. The client also chose to retain the existing powder room off to the side of the kitchen, preserving a convenient and practical feature.
On the second floor, we replaced the flooring, ensuring a cohesive and modern look throughout the house. The final product of this renovation is truly stunning, showcasing an eclectic blend of new and old design elements. This project at Muriel Ave., located near the bustling intersection of Pape and Danforth, highlights our expertise and frequent work in this vibrant area.
