The kitchen, with light wood cabinets and a curved bar with built-in modern bar stools, is partially open to the main living spaces. The curved soffit above the bar continues in to the old part of the house tying addition and original together.

The goal of this project was to create a better flowing space for entertaining and to maximize the beautiful view of their lakefront property. We achieved this goal by removing walls the kitchen and living room, installing panoramic patio doors, and creating one continuous floor that makes it easier to walk from one area of the home to another. The living room bar acts as an entertaining hub for cocktails and beer on tap, with custom TV’s that can be extended for an ideal game day experience.
The design for this project was focused on highlighting the newly opened spaces in the home. This was accomplished by painting the exposed wood ceiling, installing several different lighting options, and adding new full-height windows that helped to brighten the space. An urban farmhouse look was achieved with a neutral color palette, brick and stone interior facades, wood flooring, exposed beams, wooden shelving, and black window frames.

Inside the man cave is a hidden gem of colorful finishes and patterns. Marimekko Pieni Tiara Blue wallpaper blends seamlessly with the Amazonite quartzite drop edge countertop from the Stone Collection. The floating peppercorn stained maple Ultra Craft cabinets with exposed Jalco chrome plumbing allows a more spacious feeling than a typical vanity. Top Knobs Kingsbridge pulls in an Ash Gray finish bring a masculine yet tailored style to this bath. The oak hardwood floors continue from the den to create warmth and continuity. In the shower we used Crossville Tender Gray 4”x10” in a brcklay pattern on the walls, Uptown Glass Frost Moka 1” hex mosaic tile on the floor and shampoo niche, and for the vanity sink, we installed a low vessel Kohler Inia Wading Pool in the Ice finish, and paired it with the Brizo Rook single handle faucet in chrome. The shower fixtures are also from the Brizo Rook collection.

This traditional farmhouse kitchen was designed by Jeff Eakley in collaboration with Carol Kurth of Carol Kurth Architecture + Interiors and Legacy Construction. The expansive kitchen features Bilotta Collection cabinets in a mix of custom white and blue -grey paint. The farm sink was fabricated in stainless steel and continues as a counter top along the perimeter under the bay windows and stainless was also used on the Wolf range wall. The large island cabinetry is painted in blue-grey and has Carrera Marble countertop with a stainless steel inset border detail. A second sink was added at the island for a family who likes to prep together. The ceiling has reclaimed wood beams to continue the farmhouse aesthetic with pendant lights. For a clean look this kitchen has a paneled refrigerator and two paneled dishwasher by Miele.

The Genkan styled entry foyer allows for greeting guests and removal of shoes. For this, it incorporates a slightly raised floor and seating bench, both popular features in Japanese homes. Its honed stone flooring is the Texas Aquaverde and Yorkshire stone used at the approaching exterior entry porch and walkway to connect it to the exterior. As well, the interior accent wall behind the bench continues the Texas Lueders stone coursing used outside, with additional interspersed accent banding featuring darker-colored polished Texas Yorkshire stone. The wood ceiling is supported by exposed wood beams. The custom patterned entry doors have a combination of clear and opaque glass panels, in a similar motif to that of the custom exterior walkway gates. Opposite the entry door is a wood latticed opening which allows for views through and into the Washitsu and Nakaniwa beyond. The opening is framing with painted accent areas, segmented with aluminum reveals. The entry foyer stairs integrates glass with wood handrails, guardrails, treads and stainless steel fittings. The wood inlays include Fir, Wenge, Mesquite, Beech and Cherry. The custom designed bench has many of the same woods as the staircase.

This warehouse loft was rich in character, but it lacked one thing: defined rooms. Our client challenged us to incorporate two new bedrooms, and since the defining wall was lined with windows, we were able to introduce partitions as the driving solution. We also made a point to expose the layered history and raw texture of the original warehouse building that was masked behind the drywall before our renovation. Now, there are two elevated bedrooms with expansive glass walls (alongside integrated curtains), allowing light to continue to fill the depth of the apartment with the option for privacy.

Carefully orientated and sited on the edge of small plateau this house looks out across the rolling countryside of North Canterbury. The 3-bedroom rural family home is an exemplar of simplicity done with care and precision.
Tucked in alongside a private limestone quarry with cows grazing in the distance the choice of materials are intuitively natural and implemented with bare authenticity.
Oiled random width cedar weatherboards are contemporary and rustic, the polished concrete floors with exposed aggregate tie in wonderfully to the adjacent limestone cliffs, and the clean folded wall to roof, envelopes the building from the sheltered south to the amazing views to the north. Designed to portray purity of form the outer metal surface provides enclosure and shelter from the elements, while its inner face is a continuous skin of hoop pine timber from inside to out.
The hoop pine linings bend up the inner walls to form the ceiling and then soar continuous outward past the full height glazing to become the outside soffit. The bold vertical lines of the panel joins are strongly expressed aligning with windows and jambs, they guild the eye up and out so as you step in through the sheltered Southern entrances the landscape flows out in front of you.
Every detail required careful thought in design and craft in construction. As two simple boxes joined by a glass link, a house that sits so beautifully in the landscape was deceptively challenging, and stands as a credit to our client passion for their new home & the builders craftsmanship to see it though, it is a end result we are all very proud to have been a part of.

This expansive great room is the centerpiece of the home, defined by soaring vaulted ceilings with exposed white beams that amplify natural light throughout the space. A full wall of floor-to-ceiling black-framed glass doors opens to serene wooded views, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor experience. Wide-plank light oak flooring brings warmth and continuity, while the modern kitchen blends natural wood cabinetry with matte-black accents for a refined, cohesive look. Statement lighting fixtures anchor both the dining and living areas, and clerestory windows above the glass wall add another layer of brightness and architectural appeal. The result is a breathtaking open-concept space designed for modern living, entertaining, and ADA-focused accessibility without sacrificing luxury.
