In Katy, Texas, Tradition Outdoor Living designed an outdoor living space, transforming the average backyard into a Texas Ranch-style retreat. Entering this outdoor addition, the scene boasts Texan Ranch with custom made cedar Barn-style doors creatively encasing the recessed TV above the fireplace. Maintaining the appeal of the doors, the fireplace cedar mantel is adorned with accent rustic hardware. The 60” electric fireplace, remote controlled with LED lights, flickers warm colors for a serene evening on the patio. An extended hearth continues along the perimeter of living room, creating bench seating for all. This combination of Rustic Taloka stack stone, from the fireplace and columns, and the polished Verano stone, capping the hearth and columns, perfectly pairs together enhancing the feel of this outdoor living room. The cedar-trimmed coffered beams in the tongue and groove ceiling and the wood planked stamped concrete make this space even more unique! In the large Outdoor Kitchen, beautifully polished New Venetian Gold granite countertops allow the chef plenty of space for serving food and chatting with guests at the bar. The stainless steel appliances sparkle in the evening while the custom, color-changing LED lighting glows underneath the kitchen granite. In the cooler months, this outdoor space is wired for electric radiant heat. The Glo European Windows A5 Series windows and doors were carefully selected for the Whitefish Residence to support the high performance and modern architectural design of the home. Modern aluminum frames with clean lines paired with stainless steel handles accent the subtle details of the architectural design. Tilt and turn windows throughout the space allow the option of natural ventilation while maintaining clear views of the picturesque landscape.

Since the completion of the home our company has maintained this property. Originally built by a local builder as a speculation home, it was purchased by two busy professionals. Why is this important? Let's just say the clients are particular and like it when things aren't just so. Both have high level careers, travel often and expect their landscape to be pristine. Year after year our company rises to this challenge. When originally installed, the builder wanted larger plant material to provide a full and mature look. The continued growth provides a pruning challenge, especially when the client prefers a clean, neat and "compact" landscape. We continually monitor growth and hand prune accordingly, including yearly winter pruning. The backyard is particularly difficult due to the shade, moisture run-off from neighboring properties. The turf requires constant monitoring and adjustment to the irrigation system. The trees create a mess requiring clean up along with yearly power washing of the stone. While the challenges are many, the fine maintenance has led to happy clients and numerous referrals.

A unique historic renovation. Our windows maintain the historic look with modern performance. Equipped with tilt and turn, wood aluminum triple-pane, Glo European Windows. The Glo wood aluminum triple pane windows were chosen for this historic renovation to maintain comfortable temperatures and provide clear views. Our client wanted to match the historic aesthetic and continue their goal of energy efficient updates. High performance values with multiple air seals were required to keep the building comfortable through Missoula's changing weather. Warm wood interior frames were selected and the original paint color chosen to match the original design aesthetic, while durable aluminum frames provide protection from the elements.

We relocated the bathroom to an adjacent sitting room that had 8’ ceilings and was flooded with natural light. At twice the size of the old bathroom, the new location had ample space to create a true second master bathroom complete with soaking tub, walk-in shower and 5’ vanity. We used the same classic marble finishes throughout which provides continuity and maintains the elegant and timeless look befitting this historic mansion.

The custom wall treatment was continued into the bedroom where soft toned Brooklinen sheets and Armadillo&Co rug create a calm ambiance. The drapes along the floor-to-ceiling windows help add a softness to the linear details in the wall treatment and rug, while maintaining a similar design language.

A gorgeous negative edge finished in the same Pebble Sheen plaster, Ocean Blue, as the interior of the pool maintains the continuity of the design elements. The pool design was cleverly constructed to take advantage of the disparities in the height of the land.

The custom vanity stretches the width of the washroom. Painted in a taupe lacquer with the subtle box detail adds visual interest while maintaining the simplicity of this washroom. Continuing the tile up the wall behind the vanity adds warmth and texture. The shelving in the centre is a perfect place for towel, easily reachable when exiting the shower. The quartz counter provides a strong horizontal line accentuating the length of this washroom and complimenting and tiles and vanity.

A modern pool and pergola compliments the lush, European-style landscaping that continues from the front to the back landscape. Easy-to-maintain perennials and seasonal color are planted. And container gardens accent the pool area. The beautiful traditional architecture of this home demanded a lush English style garden design. The deep landscape beds accommodate an abundance of color and foliage interested throughout the year. The clean, contemporary pool design complements the more traditional architecture and landscape design. Put it all together and you have a beautiful and lush retreat for relaxing and entertaining in style.

A modern tile was used in the shower and on the floor to provide a continuous flow. Lanmark was used as the shower pan in this bathroom as it has no grout lines and is easy to maintain. In the new hall bathroom, we used a marble-look hex tile on the floor; the porcelain is durable and easy to maintain and the Calacatta look provides visual continuity with the ensuite bath. Elongated white subway tile keeps the bathroom feeling light and bright and a deep soaking tub means a relaxing spa-like bath is an option when needed. An open hall cubby space is currently used as the kids’ book nook, but could easily house linens and overflow bath supplies.
