With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. We were so delighted to be able to bring to life our fresh take and new renovation on a picturesque bathroom. A scene of symmetry, quite pleasing to the eye, the counter and sink area was cultivated to be a clean space, with hidden storage on the side of each elongated mirror, and a center section with seating for getting ready each day. It is highlighted by the shiny silver elements of the hardware and sink fixtures that enhance the sleek lines and look of this vanity area. Lit by a thin elegant sconce and decorated in a pathway of stunning tile mosaic this is the focal point of the master bathroom. Following the tile paths further into the bathroom brings one to the large glass shower, with its own intricate tile detailing within leading up the walls to the waterfall feature. Equipped with everything from shower seating and a towel heater, to a secluded toilet area able to be hidden by a pocket door, this master bathroom is impeccably furnished. A unique element contributed by the owner is a “lazy river” leading from the infinity pool, around the house, and ending adjacent to a Koi pond, surrounded by lush tropical landscape, and separating the main house from the guest wing. Not only are these water features aesthetic and peaceful, they cool warm mountain breezes before they enter the home, providing natural air conditioning. The walls and brick flooring were painted black, which made the space feel larger. Vibrant blues in squares and rectangles were added to mimic the sky and pull it down visually to ground level. A step-up deck was built to separate the dining area from the seating area. The planter filled with 'Everillo' carex further divides the spaces. A living wall was added to create an immersive garden experience.

This bright kitchen features gorgeous white UltraCraft cabinetry and natural wood floors. The island countertop is Mont Blanc honed quartzite with a build-up edge treatment. To contrast, the perimeter countertop is Silver Pearl Leathered granite. All of the elements are tied together in the backsplash which features New Calacatta marble subway tile with a beautiful waterjet mosaic insert over the stove.

Pamela's living space is modern, elegant and a little bit Zen. Our job was to bring in a layer of comfy romance, so I focused on furnishing the space with mushy comfort, pure white slipcovers, warm woods, breezy linens and beautiful flowers, while respecting the modern edges. We used soft, white-linen-covered furniture, flowing linen gauze curtains to divide up the open plan spaces, flowers, of course, and a chandelier to add twinkle. In her previous home, Pamela's collection of beautiful books were displayed on open shelves in a chaotic but organized way, but the bookshelves did not translate and so we housed the entire collection in cabinets on either side of the fireplace behind heavy doors of reclaimed wood. These homeowners were ready to update the home they had built when their girls were young. This was not a full gut remodel. The perimeter cabinetry mostly stayed but got new doors and height added at the top. The island and tall wood stained cabinet to the left of the sink are new and custom built and I hand-drew the design of the new range hood. The beautiful reeded detail came from our idea to add this special element to the new island and cabinetry. Bringing it over to the hood just tied everything together. We were so in love with this stunning Quartzite we chose for the countertops we wanted to feature it further in a custom apron-front sink. We were in love with the look of Zellige tile and it seemed like the perfect space to use it in.

Despite it shows itself with simplicity and pure linearity, the peculiarities of Simplicia are multiple and all determinants, to reveal an immense creative character. A constructive modularity of remarkable compositional flexibility allows customizations of great aesthetic functional innovation, thanks to the strong contribution of a targeted range of colors: matte finish doors with ABS edging to match the color CONFETTO, SABBIA, CANAPA, LAVAGNA and wood finishes TABACCO, CENERE, OLMO, DAMA, CONCHIGLIA, LONDRA and NATURALE with pore synchronized. To theseare added also a complete set of attachments multi-purpose, together with electric appliances and hoods of high technology.

Michael Habachy designed this luxurious master bathroom for a penthouse in Buckhead. It began as a completely raw space with concrete floors and framing, allowing the designer to tailor every single detail to fit the client’s lifestyle. The client wanted a dramatic and luxurious look, but also functionality. The custom, Neo-classic inspired vanity achieves that by concealing the power for blow dryers and curling irons, and integrating a built-in towel warmer. Materials such as polished Calacutta marble and special cut and beveled diamond shaped mirrors contribute to the luxurious feel. Every feature received a tremendous attention to detail, including the black and white tiled rug with inset stainless steel dots. A rich layering effect was achieved by placing a custom made linear light fixture in front of white sheers, to give the illusion that its droplets of Swarovski crystals were woven into the fabric. Located in, Summit Park, Park City UT lies one of the most efficient houses in the country. The Summit Haus – designed and built by Chris Price of PCD+B, is an exploration in design and construction of advanced high performance housing. Seeing a rising demand for sustainable housing along with rising Carbon emissions leading to global warming, this house strives to show that sensible, good design can create spaces adequate for today’s housing demands while adhering to strict standards. The house was designed to meet the very rigid Passiv House rating system – 90% more efficient than a typical home in the area. The house itself was intended to nestle neatly into the 45 degree sloped site and to take full advantage of the limited solar access and views. The views range from short, highly wooded views to a long corridor out towards the Uinta Mountain range towards the east. The house was designed and built based off Passiv Haus standards, and the framing and ventilation became critical elements to maintain such minimal energy requirements. Zola triple-pane, tilt-and-turn Thermo uPVC windows contribute substantially to the home’s energy efficiency, and takes advantage of the beautiful surrounding of the location, including forrest views from the deck off of the kitchen.
