Every detail of this European villa-style home exudes a uniquely finished feel. Our design goals were to invoke a sense of travel while simultaneously cultivating a homely and inviting ambience. This project reflects our commitment to crafting spaces seamlessly blending luxury with functionality. The living room drew its inspiration from a collection of pillows characterized by rich velvet, plaid, and paisley patterns in shades of blue and red. This design approach conveyed a British Colonial style with a touch of Ralph Lauren's distinctive flair. A blue chenille fabric was employed to upholster a tufted sofa adorned with leather and brass bridle bit accents on the sides. At the center of the room is a striking plaid ottoman, complemented by a pair of blood-red leather chairs positioned to capture a picturesque lake view. Going from a plum 60s bath and turning it into a natural and organic spa. Custom millwork and new shaker style doors and drawers helped create a new artistic vibe. A new natural color palette was introduced to the space to brighten up the space, while still conveying a room full of personality.

Designed in 1970 for an art collector, the existing referenced 70’s architectural principles. With its cadence of ‘70’s brick masses punctuated by a garage and a 4-foot-deep entrance recess. This recess, however, didn’t convey to the interior, which was occupied by disjointed service spaces. To solve, service spaces are moved and reorganized in open void in the garage. (See plan) This also organized the home: Service & utility on the left, reception central, and communal living spaces on the right. To maintain clarity of the simple one-story 70’s composition, the second story add is recessive. A flex-studio/extra bedroom and office are designed ensuite creating a slender form and orienting them front to back and setting it back allows the add recede. Curves create a definite departure from the 70s home and by detailing it to "hover like a thought" above the first-floor roof and mentally removable sympathetic add.Existing unrelenting interior walls and a windowless entry, although ideal for fine art was unconducive for the young family of three. Added glass at the front recess welcomes light view and the removal of interior walls not only liberate rooms to communicate with each other but also reinform the cleared central entry space as a hub. Even though the renovation reinforms its relationship with art, the joy and appreciation of art was not dismissed. A metal sculpture lost in the corner of the south side yard bumps the sculpture at the front entrance to the kitchen terrace over an added pedestal. (See plans) Since the roof couldn’t be railed without compromising the one-story '70s composition, the sculpture garden remains physically inaccessible however mirrors flanking the chimney allow the sculptures to be appreciated in three dimensions. The mirrors also afford privacy from the adjacent Tudor's large master bedroom addition 16-feet away.

Aesthetic Value: The subtle lines and light color of the radiata pine stringer model spiral provide nice contrast with the eccentric iron balustrade. Laser cut Tinkerbells and abstract Mickey Mouse and fireworks elements contribute unique detail. Stair Safety: The balustrade rejects a 4" sphere in all areas despite the complex detail of the components and floating rail above the laser cut elements. Quality: The balustrade features predominantly laser cut sections fabricated with minimal visible welds and custom finished in-house with a three step guilders paste application. Technical Challenge: Creating the complex ironwork design in a way that has aesthetically pleasing sections that fit the theme and space. Attention to meticulous details that convey the theme even at deepest levels of observing the stair.

The 2025 Southern Living Idea House is a cozy retreat settled on five acres of woodsy land near Charlottesville, Virginia. The design and build teams infused Southern charm throughout the home using big windows, vibrant colors, and bold patterns. “[The goal of] this year’s Idea House was a richly detailed house that conveys a sense of permanence and calm,” said project architect Julie Dixon of Rosney Co. Architects. Large windows and doors from the Marvin Ultimate collection create charming vignettes of the surrounding countryside throughout the home and give this new build a classic look.

This kitchen, all in white, conveys a sense of timeless elegance, homely warmth and perfect craftsmanship. The focus is on the finely structured wood which is used in a number of different ways: as a delicate solid wood edge, in the varied interior fittings and as a top quality wall panel which acts as a flowing transition to the living area.

In collaboration with Touchstone Custom Homes, Scott Schunk of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Springfield, VA, designed multiple rooms in this new construction project. The entire project conveys a transitional style and features a range of collections, styles, and finishes in both Ultracraft and Merillat Cabinetry. The kitchen is a showcase of Ultracraft Cabinetry in the Shaker door style, with a custom paint Granite Peak finish on the perimeter cabinets paired with a kitchen island designed in the Simply White finish. Both the primary bathroom and mini bar display the Ultracraft Cabinetry Slab door style in Rift Cut Oak with a Chestnut stain finish. The main bar features Merillat Masterpiece cabinets in the Shaker door style with a painted Riverbed finish. Appliances, countertops, and tiles were sourced from other providers. The core focus of the interior design photography for this property was its custom furniture and statement light fixtures. This spacious home showcased a luxurious collection of Italian sofas and décor, making it a standout project for us to capture in rich detail. The main challenge was to convey both the royal elegance of the space and its warm, inviting atmosphere. To achieve this, we photographed each area with a mix of wide, immersive shots and intimate captures of cozy corners and design details, highlighting both the grandeur and the charm of the interior.

M-S Pro Architects announce the completion of an indoor swimming pool in a state-of-the-art, single storey family home set in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Bratislava - one of Europe’s youngest capital cities. Kebony, a beautiful wood recommended by leading architects, was chosen to craft the ceiling of the swimming pool, which is designed to emulate rippling waves as well as for the terrace deck and structural beams. Sustainability and a desire to recreate the close proximity often seen between wood and water in the natural environment were primary focuses in the design of this project. This led a requirement for a low maintenance wood, compatible humidity and with advanced durability, for the swimming pool ceiling. In addition, a high level of precision when cutting the wood was required in order to achieve the desired appearance of waves. Supplied by Leading Market, Kebony was carefully selected for the pool ceiling, which consists of 490 lamellae of timber, due to its versatility, durability and environmental credentials. Kebony was also installed throughout the exterior of this property, both for the spacious outdoor terrace and the exterior and interior beams. One of the reasons to choose Kebony was the unified look of wood in all these different applications. Developed in Norway, the patented Kebony technology uses an environmentally friendly process, which permanently enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid derived from agricultural crop waste. By polymerising the wood’s cell wall with furfuryl alcohol, the wood gains greatly improved durability and dimensional stability, giving it characteristics similar to those of tropical hardwood. In creating a wood with comparable properties to tropical hardwood that can be grown in a FSC certified, sustainably managed forest, the demand for tropical woods is reduced, allowing timber to once again be an important part of sustainable construction. Tomáš Hubinský, Lead Architect at M-S Pro, commented: “From conception through to completion, the creation of this ceiling has been a real feat. Despite the challenges faced by such an intricate design, Kebony was the perfect material to convey our desired effect of waves rippling along the ceiling. We will continue to incorporate Kebony into our interior and exterior designs, with wood fast becoming the first choice material for all architects.” Mette Valen, Sales Manager Norway at Kebony, explained: “The distinctive nature of this design cleverly portrays the capability of Kebony, demonstrating both the aesthetic and performance qualities of the product. We would be honoured to work with M-S Pro in the future and look forward to seeing how they utilise Kebony in their future projects.”

This sophisticated Transitional entryway creates a bright, welcoming first impression with its tall, crisp white trim, crown molding, and polished marble-look tile floor. The space is dramatically lit by a statement brass and glass bubble chandelier and features both a minimalist pedestal console table and a sleek, emerald velvet entry bench as functional options. A neutral color palette is energized by pops of color from the abstract art, conveying an elegant yet clean and contemporary mood.

Upgrades to this contemporary west coast home bring simplicity, light and improved movement. Stairs were reconfigured and opened with glass, wood and steel – giving visibility from the entrance through to the living spaces, where windows openings were enlarged to capture the ocean and islands beyond. Custom millwork placed in the kitchen increased function and aesthetic, and created a workspace situated towards the expansive west coast view. All finishes were upgraded and spaces opened considerably. Situated just outside a major city, this home now conveys the sense that it is a place of retreat, perfect for an owner who aspires to study art.
