My final 2 purchases were shelves to put my books and art pieces on. I had basically no money left in my budget, but I was able to get the green shelf from kijiji for $10, and the white shelf on sale from JYSK for $15. They are both intended to be wall-mounted shelves, but I just put them between the 2 sets of cabinets that I had. As you can see, the cabinets weren't exactly the same height, so I took a level, and once the shelf was level, measured the difference (2 1/4"). Then I made a wooden "bridge" (below, right) out of 2x2s and then painted it bright blue.

Now that all of the door were in, I found the room more peaceful ... but maybe a bit TOO peaceful. The room needed a splash of color! I looked online for colorful cabinet knobs, but even the Mexican ones looked a bit tame to me, and they were Expensive! ($35 for 6 knobs!) Luckily, one of the arts materials in a plastic bin was polymer clay in a variety of colors! After watching a couple of YouTube videos on creating millifiori cane and kaleidoscope cane, I experimented and created 4 different designs for knobs. Oh! Because I had made 6 Kallax doors into 11 doors, I didn't have knobs for the other 5. All I did was take bolts (about 1 1/2" long) and make cabinet knobs, making sure to leave enough screw to fit through the doors and be tightened with nuts on the other side.

Our client needed her own space to create her art. This beautiful "she-shed" has made quite a lovely crafts studio! This particular she-shed of ours was also featured on the cover of a book, "She-Sheds: A Room of Your Own, by Erika Kotite!

A young family moving from NYC tackled a lightning fast makeover of their new colonial revival home before the arrival of their second child.
