The vision for this project was to create one bathroom suite consisting of his and her private rooms, joined together by a large steam shower. Both baths are outfitted with radiant floor heat, custom lighting control system - which allows the homeowners to set different moods & task lighting, as well as motion-lights placed underneath each vanity for evening illumination and custom sound system. European lighting and plumbing fixtures, in connection with the finish palette and custom designed cabinetry, provide a timeless look. The darker slabs for the vanity top and tub surround provide a complimenting contrast to otherwise cream colored tones. Diagonal shapes in the vanity door and drawer profiles are repeated on a custom mirror surround. Central to her bathroom is the soaking tub featuring a cantileered shelf providing space for candles & toiletries and perfect views to relax & watch TV. Alongside the tub is access to a private quiet patio with waterfalls and custom outdoor shower, creating the ultimate spa experience in the privacy of your own home. -Photographer John Armich

Shades of blue accent the room, grounded by a deep blue plaid rug for a touch of coastal prep. Here, the cordless candlestick lamps on the console are dressed with Morris & Co's Marigold Linen, creating ambient light for TV watching. Bright light from the windows in the nook at the front of the house created a perfect spot for a home office. The rear corner became a reading nook that housed a pair of the client's leather recliners.

This colorful playroom is anchored by a large, kid-proof microfiber sectional. The custom Roman shades can be fully lowered to darken the room for movie watching. The mosaic tile pattern of the rug in orange, brown and cream adds playfulness to the space.

I love layering a room. Grasscloth wallpaper against soft roman sheers and wool draperies with simple hardware detail does just that. The oversized upholstered headboard and crystal table lamps create the interesting focal point for this wall. The main focus is the projection screen and cozy couches for the family to gather and watch movies in surround sound. Just a few feet away, a kitchenette provides some refreshments and food. This space also allows plenty of room to throw a party and this kitchenette can store lots of food and drink. Down the hall we have a rec room with a ping pong table. Across from that is a gym so the homeowners can continue to live a healthy lifestyle. On the other side of the basement there is a playroom that can easily double as a guest room. It's a great spot for the kids to play and keep their toys all in one place. Next door is a "jack and jill" bathroom that is appropriate for all ages. Walk in the door and you'll be wowed by the mosaic tile accent that greets you from inside the shower. We're happy to hear the family is enjoying the space and have enjoyed a few parties!

This project was featured in Midwest Home magazine as the winner of ASID Life in Color. The addition of a kitchen with custom shaker-style cabinetry and a large shiplap island is perfect for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Quartz counters that mimic the look of marble were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Open shelving with brass sconces above the sink create a focal point for the large open space. Putting a modern spin on the traditional nautical/coastal theme was a goal. We took the quintessential palette of navy and white and added pops of green, stylish patterns, and unexpected artwork to create a fresh bright space. Grasscloth on the back of the built in bookshelves and console table along with rattan and the bentwood side table add warm texture. Finishes and furnishings were selected with a practicality to fit their lifestyle and the connection to the outdoors. A large sectional along with the custom cocktail table in the living room area provide ample room for game night or a quiet evening watching movies with the kids. Perched on a forested hillside above Missoula, the Pattee Canyon Residence provides a series of bright, light filled spaces for a young family of six. Set into the hillside, the home appears humble from the street while opening up to panoramic views towards the valley. The family frequently puts on large gatherings for friends of all ages; thus, multiple “eddy out” spaces were created throughout the home for more intimate chats. Exposed steel structural ribs and generous glazing in the great room create a rhythm and draw one’s gaze to the folding horizon. Smaller windows on the lower level frame intimate portraits of nature. Cedar siding and dark shingle roofing help the home blend in with its piney surroundings. Inside, rough sawn cabinetry and nature inspired tile provide a textural balance with the bright white spaces and contemporary fixtures.
