The building was in poor condition and required a complete overhaul, as well as a new addition to house the commercial kitchen and dining room. The Looms’ design team of Liz Winship and Mary Beth Ferro were brought in early on in the process to work closely with the architects and contractors to collaborate in designing a space that would blend the historic integrity of the period building and the neighborhood with the practical, code-driven requirements of a multi-functional commercial space. The “look” was to be inspired by Nantucket’s unique land and seascape, while also feeling a little “on trend” and contemporary. The outdoor lighting here is by Hubbardton Forge of Vermont. It was chosen for its handmade look, innovative design and modern American blacksmith aesthetic. The door is the repainted original door to the building.

This Urban Contemporary style is a perfect example that demonstrates how the inclusion of classic architectural elements and materials will achieve a modern sophisticated yet timeless setting. Rather than smooth, painted, or stamped concrete, the natural stone paving and pool coping resonates an energy of life only achieved by quarried natural stone. Our Macedonia Limestone has both a cool and warm color range so it works well in many settings. The lightness of color keep the surface cooler in direct sun so it is friendly to the touch. The Tuscan Column is also produced from our Macedonia Limestone. In this contemporary setting the simplicity of this Tuscan style Column breaks the monotony of the minimalist straight line architectural style and brings a cylindrical shape from our natural world into this design. All in all, the combination of classic and contemporary is well achieved. It is pleasing to the eye and spirit of this project.

As cherry continues to make a comeback, we show how classic is far from a dirty word. This kitchen used to be closed off and non-functional. With the help of our award-winning designer, Tracy West, it is now open, and has the perfect work triangle. By removing the wall that previously separated the kitchen and breakfast nook, the homeowners were able to relocate their refrigerator and add an island. The natural tones and textures in this kitchen make it feel inviting and clean and demonstrate that cherry can still add personality and dimension in a completely updated (and still timeless) way. 806 Outdoors Ltd Co Cleve Turner, FASLA, PLA Sam McAlexander We had the honor of recently completing this TLA Designed pergola for a wonderful client in Wolflin. This pergola featured contoured steel headers on a continuous radius. All steel members were shipped to Dallas for hot dipped galvanization. The rafters consisted of Trex timbers with integrated ceiling fans and brushed nickel lights. Stainless steel fasteners throughout. Completely custom - not another one quite like it in the Texas Panhandle. This particular project demonstrates the wide array of options clients have when customizing their outdoor living space. Carrera marble in all its glory is the big show stopper in this Bolton Hill rowhome master bath renovation. What started as a cramped, chopped up room was opened into a sparkling, luxurious space evocative of timeless Old World mansion baths. The result demonstrates what’s possible when mixing multiple marble tile shapes, colors and patterns. To visually frame the bathroom, we installed 6” x 12” honed Carrera marble tiles laid in a herringbone pattern for wainscotting, and carried the same marble pattern into the shower stall in order to create depth and dimension. The wainscotting is set off by beautifully-detailed Carrera marble chair rail and black tile pencil moulding. Carrera hex shower tiles, marble sills and bench, and intricate Carrera and black mosaic flooring complete the marble details. The crisp white double vanity and inconspicuous builtins tastefully compliment the marble, and the brass cabinet hardware, mirrors and plumbing and lighting fixtures add a burst of color to the room.

It will enhance every modern kitchen with it's clear lines and puristic form language. It provides easy access to the required cooking utensils and eases the straight lined kitchen architecture at the same time. A horizontal square railing of stainless steel colored aluminium screwed directly onto the niche back wall, provides the basic support element. Several function elements in lacquered solid oak are suspended here in various positions. The choice of instruments: shelves, paper roll holders, hook rail, utensil holder and a knife block. Separate function items can also be used as a shelf for smaller items.
