This was in a low ceilng 1940's addition to the rear of the house. The challenge was to raise the ceilings and bring it to the scale of the rest of the house. The arched mahogany french doors were cut in and maximized in size. The arch recalls the elliptical arch leading to the salon. We installed a custom handmade backsplash from Staffford Tile and Stone with black, white, and gray marble with strips of mirror. The owner's intent was to have cooking demonstrations for convention clients open to the dining area so his guests could see the process.

Set on a narrow lakefront parcel defined by tight setbacks and limited hardscape allowance, this modern cabin demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform restriction into possibility. Carefully composed to preserve privacy while opening fully toward the water, the home feels both expansive and intimate—an elevated retreat grounded in its landscape. Though modest in footprint, the residence lives generously. Four bedrooms are tucked efficiently within the plan, including a light-filled quilting studio that reflects the homeowners’ creative life.
