Our clients had been living in a rancher with just one bathroom for 4 family members. Needless to say, it was time to expand. There was plenty of room on their lot to add an entire master suite and a third bathroom. We transformed their cramped little rancher into what we can only describe as laid back luxury. Since natural light would now flood the addition through the new window placements, we wanted to build off the airy feeling that the new space would evoke. We chose classic finishes like light wood tones, marble and penny tile, and hues of calming blue in the kids bathrooms for a pop of color. Classic polished nickel fixtures adorn the bathroom walls and countertops, and elegant bronze lighting and hardware adds just enough contrast to pull the whole look together.

Light and linear describes this gorgeous Master Bath withhis and hers vanities, a makeup table, ample storage space and a spa tub. Internally lit mirrors and frameless shower doors visually expand an already large space.

This historic 1840’s Gothic Revival home perched on the harbor, presented an array of challenges: they included a narrow-restricted lot cozy to the neighboring properties, a sensitive coastal location, and a structure desperately in need of major renovations. The renovation concept respected the historic notion of individual rooms and connecting hallways, yet wanted to take better advantage of water views. The solution was an expansion of windows on the water siding of the house, and a small addition that incorporates an open kitchen/family room concept, the street face of the home was historically preserved. The interior of the home has been completely refreshed, bringing in a combined reflection of art and family history with modern fanciful choices. Adds testament to the successful renovation, the master bathroom has been described as “full of rainbows” in the morning.

Dark, moody, eclectic and magazine-worthy were descriptions our client used to describe the style of the dining room they desired. Rich, saturated hues of magenta on the chairs and rug, and textured deep teal wallpaper adorns the ceiling and complements the wall color.

Sheryl Manning of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Charlotte, NC, in collaboration with Lynn Schafer Interiors, designed a transitional kitchen design featuring Masterpiece cabinetry and Merillat cabinetry. The kitchen perimeter and coffee bar cabinets highlight Merillat Classic in the door style Rowan with a Cotton finish. The kitchen island cabinets feature Masterpiece in the Sawyer door style with a Rainfall finish. Additionally, the kitchen includes MSI Q Calacatta Miraggio Duo quartz countertops, a Splendours White 3x12 backsplash and KitchenAid appliances. The client shared their appreciation, saying, "Sheryl was absolutely wonderful to work with and really made this project stress-free for us. Her expertise in kitchen layouts and maximizing space for our needs, along with updating the dark cherry wood to a lovely white and timeless look, were invaluable. The Marketing office - Reception , Waiting lounge and M.D. cabin had to be squeezed into an extremely tight volume for our resort in Auroville Pondicherry - The Sprouts. We decided to take advantage of the wooden louvred doors typical to the Architecture of Franco Tamil Architecture of Pondicherry and designed a collapsible full height doors that can close in 2 ways - 1 separating the M.D cabin from the waiting space and - 2 Extending the M.D. cabin with double the seating and room size by closing in the waiting space from the Reception space. The design palette had to again adhere to the concept described already ( read the earlier post ) . The reception desk is a Gunny bag fabric woven metal frame with a simple white duco painted panel with the signage backlit. The Gunny bag is one material that can handle extreme weathering and a natural fabric , it displays both the strength and flexibility - both properties that the brand prefers to showcase as their core values as a brand towards their clientele. The background to M.Ds desk and the desk itself are both adorned by Live edge wooden slabs that speak of the grit that comes with age / legacy . A floating rattan chandelier shaped like a canoe (due to the proximity to beach), all furniture that are inherently wood and rattan, keep the warm grounded theme in place.

A bathroom is a natural choice for zen style as it is a room in which it’s important to be comfortable and relaxed. That’s likely why many top destination spas use zen-inspired style to pamper their clients.

Built in 1969 with only one previous owner, this quaint Cape house needed a full renovation. We took the opportunity to wire for both the client’s current and future needs. Ultra-high bandwidth cabling throughout the house allows for the next internet speed bump over 1 gigabit. The owners are self-described “recovering audiophiles,” so the speaker and equipment selection required a high-end solution to achieve this sound quality throughout 18 zones of indoor and outdoor audio. In addition, a lighting control system with close to 40 keypad locations strategically placed throughout the house was designed to let them control multiple lights from anywhere in the house, as well as to automate routine lighting scenes. In the family room, a surround sound setup complemented a 77-inch OLED TV wrapped in a custom black walnut frame to conceal the TV. Several custom programmed iPads are located in rooms with TVs, as well as a master control in the kitchen. Lastly, smart thermostats, video doorbells, smart door locks, 11 high-resolution cameras, and a smart water leak protection system allow the owners to monitor the house whether they are home or away. In a walkable neighborhood near the center of town, a historic masonry and timber frame structure has a new future as a residence containing 10 apartments. The property was originally built by the Elks in 1913 and later became a Masonic lodge, which included a bar, kitchen, meeting rooms and office space. The new apartments range from studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom units from 500 square feet to 1000 square feet. In conformance with the municipality’s 20% affordable housing requirements, two of the apartment units will be priced as affordable housing. The top floor of the existing building is double-height, allowing for mezzanine space. Apartments are designed as loft style, with modern detailing; a “SoHo aesthetic.” The character of the building is being restored and preserved, and where possible original brick, stucco, and wood are exposed and refinished. The exterior gains a new stair and elevator tower addition, along with new window openings where necessary. A new plaque designed for the building describes its historic roots in Princeton. With the inclusion of a green roof, LEED for Homes certification is being pursued for the project.

The Rancho Estate provides a level of luxury that sets it apart from any residence in Los Angeles, breaking the record for the most expensive home ever sold in the Encino area. The Eden Group worked with the client to achieve all their development goals by providing integrated design and engineering services which developed concurrently achieving project milestones while staying within the construction budget. Our residential design team used modern aesthetics which entailed of design elements tailored to provide spacious and unparalleled views of the San Fernando Valley. Attracting a dream buyer is the most important aspect in the eyes of any real estate developer and that is why we chose two words to describe the amenities we incorporated into the design: Vast & Spectacular. The estate allows you to swim with infinite views, get your work out on at the indoor gym, shoot hoops with your friends in the indoor basketball court, go for a round of bowling with your child, chomp on popcorn in your theater, get a massage after the steam room at your private spa, putt a couple hole-in-ones, and if you get bored you can always choose to go for a ride from the collection inside your 16-car garage. Majestic high ceilings mixed wide span openings created a challenge for our engineers given the strict rules in the Baseline Hillside Ordinance and the California Building Code. Our structural engineers prepared innovative design plans which entailed of 150 deep pile foundations mixed with steel and laminated timber framing members. We also used permanent shoring techniques to reduce construction cost by eliminating the need for temporary shoring plans for both the structure foundation and on-site retaining walls. Given that California has some of the strictest stormwater management requirements and the total amount of non-permeable areas on this project, the client was required to construct a 35,000-gallon rain harvesting tank per the Low Impact Development Plan Best Management Practice (BMP’s) standards. Our specialized drainage design team captured all on-site stormwater through trench drains, area drains, and downspouts which routed water to a mechanical sump pump that connected to the storage tank for irrigation use later. Innovative design engineering techniques used on this project allowed for increased safety and sustainability making the Rancho Estate a masterpiece of contemporary construction.

Two phases completed in 2020 & 2021 included kitchen and primary bath remodels. Bright, light, fresh and simple describe these beautiful spaces fit just for our clients. The primary bath was a fun project to complete. A few must haves for this space were a place to incorporate the Peloton, more functional storage and a welcoming showering/bathing area. The space was primarily left in the same configuration, but we were able to make it much more welcoming and efficient. The walk in shower has a small bench for storing large bottles and works as a perch for shaving legs. The entrance is doorless and allows for a nice open experience + the pebbled shower floor. The freestanding tub took the place of a huge built in tub deck creating a prefect space for Peleton next to the vanity. The vanity was freshened up with equal spacing for the dual sinks, a custom corner cabinet to house supplies and a charging station for sonicares and shaver. Lastly, the corner by the closet door was underutilized and we placed a storage chest w/ quartz countertop there. The overall space included freshening up the paint/millwork in the primary bedroom. BlueStar Regional Winner Pamela Polvere, Pamela Polvere Designs Location: Elmwood Park, IL Project Name: Greifenstein Kitchen This kitchen and breakfast room remodeling project was done for a family with 5 daughters and 3 dogs. This victorian farmhouse was built in the early 1900’s. The homeowners described their new space as wanting an “open, airy, brighter and lighter” look and feel. They had just remodeled their front porch and purchased a new Pella front door. The color is ‘Sparkling Teal’ and it matched perfectly the BlueStar color “RAL 6027 Light Green”.
