We designed this Master Bathroom to incorporate natural yet elegant materials, including mahogany cabinetry, limestone countertops, chevron wood veneer wallpaper, brass pulls and polished nickel plumbing fixtures.

Robin Stancliff photo credits. My client’s main focus for this bathroom was to create a wheelchair accessible shower while maintaining a unique and rustic visual appeal. When we received this project, the majority of the bathroom had already been destroyed, and the new vanity was already in place. Our main contribution was the new ADA accessible shower. We decided to keep the Saltillo tile and brick wall in the bathroom to keep some of the original Southwestern charm of the home, and create a stone flooring for the base of the shower. By mixing a variety of colored stones and creating a stone detail up the side of the shower, we were able to add a modern and fresh touch to the shower. Aside from the stone detail, the sides of the shower are made up of rustic wood-look porcelain which fits the overall aesthetic of the bathroom while still being easy to clean. To accommodate a wheelchair, the shower is 5’ by 5’ with a 3’ door. The handheld bar at the back of the shower is an ADA compliant bar which has levers so it can be easily maneuvered. Overall, we aimed to create a sturdy structure for the shower that would hold up to various disability needs while still remaining chic. By adding rustic details and thoughtful ADA compliant components, this shower is useful and attractive.

Another special ADA feature is a special wall oven that opens side to side instead of up and down, allowing easier access for anyone in a wheelchair. Other special features include decorative glass doors, plate organizer drawer, crown molding that fades into the wall, and a wood hood. The beauty is in the detail(ing). This wonderful commercial bathroom design by Denes Petoe, is decked out in luminous 3” x 12” Cambas Frosted Silk Finished Tohmai glass tiles, giving way to the ADA handrails. Denes designed these custom mounting pad details made of polished Thassos Marble to make commercial grab bar installations more upscale, yet still comply with the American Disability Association standards. The mounting pad detail can be made in any color/material. No longer do you need to compromise on good design and layout! The bathroom is grounded with our Offset 5/8” mosaic in polished Blue Celeste, Ming Green and Thassos for the floor to create an upscale look for not only commercial, but residential projects as well. The concept can also be adapted to towel bars, toilet paper holders and other mounted hardware. This Floating Amistire Vanity, also designed by Denes Petoe, is made out of honed Ming Green Marble (customizable to any color and size).
