Our discerning client wanted to completely renovate their Kosher Kitchen in the heart of Great Neck Village but at the same time retain the exact foot print as their old kitchen and also to keep all the entry points in to this space. After applying and successfully gaining the approval of the Building Dept. We embarked on the design process in which we turn to our Kitchen Distributors A-Direct for design guidance. As always Ted was a great asset and our client were very excited to finalize their new layout and to begin the construction. Inspired by the owners' travels in the Mediterranean region yet rooted firmly in Texas soil, this single family residence is designed to provide a secluded, comfortable environment for observing nature, relaxing, entertaining, living, and working. The oddly shaped site determined a house that is removed from the street, resulting in a long drive through a wooded area that leads to the gently sloping house site. The house is designed around a large, central public living area. The basic "H" shaped plan reaches out to define the entry court as well as the rear yard area. The building can only be seen in small vignettes as one moves around and through it, and is finally understood from inside the main room. The public space is central to the plan, where rooms overlay and flow through and into one another. Private rooms are tucked away in more remote parts of the site. The guest bedrooms are located at a slightly lower level, and a remote study, reached by a ship's ladder, overlooks the main living area and enjoys its own roof terrace. The central part of the house is designed as a solid, strong, "original" building to which other wings are added as if built over time. Luxe, luxe, luxe! As this space was meant to attract a discerning client we needed the master bathroom to stand out from similarly priced rentals in the area. Creating a luxurious, elegant and classic space was key. As there is no natural light, we selected a pale grey and white material throughout. The dark brown stain on the vanity adds contrast.

Concrete, the classic material of discerning architecture, is now increasingly being used indoors. Concrete surfaces have a characteristic expression that is always entirely unique. Qualities that make this timeless material so precious for the design of individual kitchens.

For added safety, the ethanol fireplace AF120 insert offers insulated double hearth construction. Separate Fuel Reservoir and Burner Tray. Continuing with the unprecedented safety features of this ethanol burner, excess fuel is housed in a sealed reservoir. This not only prevents fuel evaporation and the aromatic release of the raw ethanol, but lessens the amount of “exposed” fuel at any given time. Through a medical grade fuel pump, the ethanol is delivered into the burner tray. Only allowing the burner tray to manage a few centiliters of ethanol fuel at a given time promotes additional safety and minimizes the risk of fire-related dangers.
