This is the modular addition that arrived as 2 semi-finished boxes. It was the first time this company had done a vaulted ceiling. The porcelain floor tile is a close match to the painted floors in the original part of the house. This is a long, narrow space (dictated by lot size and shape) and we divided the area into zones of use. The southern end is set up for conversation as well as TV viewing. The curtains are made from painters drop cloths.

The dining room is open to the kitchen and is the main eating space for the client. The walnut table compliments the hardwood floors and custom made upholstered chairs bring in some color and fun! The mirrored cabinet backs and backsplash of the dining room cabinets reflect the light and make it appear larger. The chandlier also adds an element of fun with the crystal drops hanging over the table.

The classically unpretentious dining room includes beige chenille fabric with aqua accents on the chairs. . The Oriental area rug, also sparked with blue accents, and the pedestal table are transitional. The room flows beautifully with double sliding doors that lead to the large veranda The presence of the fabric drum pendant with the crystal drop creates an eclectic aura . The window drapery panels frame the waterfront views and add softness. A coral collection on the table adds interest and texture while giving a nod to the beach view.

A floor to ceiling storage pantry is the vertical divide between a customary working galley kitchen and the more formal eating area. Black lacquered cabinetry is a neutral backdrop that coordinates with all surrounding spaces.

People often ask what inspires us in our interior designs. In this case, it was the large scale wallpaper that was actually large squares of this pattern that was installed much like tilework. Opposite the wallpaper, we displayed a wonderful original painting with a large drop of water as its main component. We created our color palette and interior design around those beginning elements.

Comfortable seating is key to the luxurious feel of this room. Antiques are mixed with more modern elements to make it all feel so new and livable. Note the melange of antique mirrors on the mantel.
