Living room - modern living room idea in New York

Bringing summer all year-round. JZID did a full gut-remodel on a small bungalow in Whitefish Bay to transform it into a New England Coastal-inspired sanctuary for Colorado transplant Clients. Now even on the coldest winter days, the Clients will feel like it’s summer as soon as they walk into their home.

Amber works from home and was sacrificing a dining room for her home office. By utilizing the double wide closet space in her guest bedroom, she now walks into her home without the reminder of work, and can have guests over for a meal in her dining room (dining room reveal coming soon). The walls were freshly painted Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. This gives the room a fresh, clean look and also adds contrast to the beige carpet. Amber had her homework assignments cut out for her as she had to do some major purging in her throw all guest room. Once she started letting go, she was on a roll and continually surprised me as she cleaned out closets throughout the house. One dresser was filled with cds, dvds, books, albums, scrap-booking materials; items taking up precious real estate in her life that she didn't even know were there. There really wasn't a storage problem after-all, she was just holding on to a collection of things that no longer served her. Each time I would visit, and her space would become more open, I could see the weight lifting off her and her self love building. Amber had a recent breakup with her boyfriend and this makeover helped her not only focus on making a home sanctuary for herself, but helped her let go of the pains of the past and focus on the exciting future ahead. At one point when we were moving sofas in the living room (which we will also reveal soon), we found an ex's flip-flop. We were figuratively and literally sweeping away the past. Editing your home and your life makes room for your future; for new people and things. We are so happy to finally reveal the room to you! We can't wait to unveil the rest of Amber's home, once we complete the finishing touches. Challenges: Amber's home was filled with mix-matched furniture from family and college. She had no idea what her decorating style was. After shopping together and exchanging somepinterest boards, I was finally able to get a sense of what she loves. I had to work on a tight budget, which meant really digging out the creativity and utilizing other items in the home. We wanted to save the closet doors in the event she sold her home or no longer needed an office someday. There wasn't any extra space to store these closet doors, so I used them as a headboard. The only items purchased were: Curtains, Curtain Rod, Bedspread Set, Throw Pillows, 2 Lamps and Paint.

Mid Century Modern front yard renovation transforming a former lawn into a beautiful layered green garden providing privacy for the front of the home. Working with different textures the layers pop with the edited green palette. This side (secondary path) provides access to the side yard and storage area. In its original state, Rob’s closet was actually an editing booth. The client came to us to transform a room in their new house, with the purpose of entertaining friends. In order to give them the relaxed, airy vibe they were looking for, the original outdated space needed some TLC... starting with a coat of paint. We did a walk through with the client to get a feel for the room we’d be working with, asked the couple to give us some insight into their budget and color and style preferences, and then we got to work! We created three unique design concepts with their preferences in mind: Beachy, Breezy and Boho. Our client chose concept #2 "Breezy" and we got cranking on the procurement and installation (as in putting together an Ikea table).From designing, editing, and ordering to installing, our process took just a few weeks for this project (most of the lag time spent waiting for furniture to arrive)! And we managed to get the husband's seal of approval, too. Double win.

This project located in southern Connecticut is an interior, exterior renovation and addition. Both the interior and exterior were upgraded to a modern aesthetic which blends and complements the existing colonial design. The deck and patio provide multiple levels and areas for sitting, editing and entertaining.

Creative solutions and refining touches make this luxury, 2-story condo complete remodel a resounding success. The addition of a powder bath, and the open-concept kitchen redesign transformed and revitalized the main floor living space. Both existing bathrooms were also completely redone with new tile, cabinets, countertops and fixtures. The new bamboo flooring, and a richly textured “basket weave” pattern carpet give the spaces a warm, island feel. Combining all new furnishings from classic and reliable sources such as Drexel Heritage, Tommy Bahama, and Palecek, with lighting fixtures by Corbett, the rooms glow with comfort, style, and visual appeal. Dramatic area rugs add interest and grounding. Rich, warm earth tones in a sophisticated palette flow throughout. Original island inspired murals and paintings by artist Penelope, and a large limited edition giclee by Brigitte D’Annibale grace the walls. The home is a perfect balance of personalized space for the owners when in residence, and a durable, comfortable unit for vacationing guests.

Today’s traditional kitchens are nothing like the overly embellished ones of the ‘90’s & early 2000’s, replete with intricately carved posts, columns, corbels, overlays and moldings. Today’s classic kitchen is edited down to time honored elements, simpler trims, with some contemporary touches. Recessed panel doors with a beveled inner profile, and slab drawers with a rounded outer trim, line the perimeter. The main body of the island is “L”-shaped, but the overhang is curved, repeating the curved breakfast nook window and paneled banquette. Clean-lined slab doors and drawers allow the island’s shapely form to shine. Two tones again prove popular, with gray paint on the perimeter and rift-cut white oak stained dark brown on the island. Clear glass doors flanking the hood have natural maple interiors to brighten the expanse of cabinetry. In the dining room, the upper glass doors of the hutch cabinets have matching painted interiors for a more formal look. Crown molding is an uncluttered cove, and under cabinet lighting is discreetly hidden in the recessed bottoms. Frosted drum pendants and a linear dining chandelier holding frosted glass “candles” are unapologetically contemporary.
