The front great room sets the tone for the entire home: an inviting balance of warmth, texture, and effortless flow. A soft, airy palette is grounded by earthy pops of color, creating a sense of calm from the moment you step inside. Texture plays a leading role throughout, starting with stunning herringbone floors that add movement and depth. The fireplace, though subtle, is a statement in itself, finished in Venetian plaster for an elegant, tactile effect. Every furniture piece was chosen with intention—soft, sculptural forms that feel as good as they look, all while being kid-friendly with no sharp edges. The result is a space that feels beautifully curated yet completely livable, seamlessly connecting to the rest of the home.

We gave this rather dated farmhouse some dramatic upgrades that brought together the feminine with the masculine, combining rustic wood with softer elements. In terms of style her tastes leaned toward traditional and elegant and his toward the rustic and outdoorsy. The result was the perfect fit for this family of 4 plus 2 dogs and their very special farmhouse in Ipswich, MA. Character details create a visual statement, showcasing the melding of both rustic and traditional elements without too much formality. The new master suite is one of the most potent examples of the blending of styles. The bath, with white carrara honed marble countertops and backsplash, beaded wainscoting, matching pale green vanities with make-up table offset by the black center cabinet expand function of the space exquisitely while the salvaged rustic beams create an eye-catching contrast that picks up on the earthy tones of the wood. The luxurious walk-in shower drenched in white carrara floor and wall tile replaced the obsolete Jacuzzi tub. Wardrobe care and organization is a joy in the massive walk-in closet complete with custom gliding library ladder to access the additional storage above. The space serves double duty as a peaceful laundry room complete with roll-out ironing center. The cozy reading nook now graces the bay-window-with-a-view and storage abounds with a surplus of built-ins including bookcases and in-home entertainment center. You can’t help but feel pampered the moment you step into this ensuite. The pantry, with its painted barn door, slate floor, custom shelving and black walnut countertop provide much needed storage designed to fit the family’s needs precisely, including a pull out bin for dog food. During this phase of the project, the powder room was relocated and treated to a reclaimed wood vanity with reclaimed white oak countertop along with custom vessel soapstone sink and wide board paneling. Design elements effectively married rustic and traditional styles and the home now has the character to match the country setting and the improved layout and storage the family so desperately needed. this young family wanted to updated their super traditional kitchen to better suit their families way of living. Adding the large hutch with beverage drawers created an area for the daily clutter to gather without ending up in the working area of the kitchen. The convenient walk in pantry gives tons of added storage area. The small bar between the kitchen and dining room allows for ease of entertaining. The formerly ho-hum powder room is now paneled and wallpapered and is truly a special moment off the family room.

Many believe that walking in natural surroundings is not only peaceful but by providing moments of peaceful contemplation, such walks can have a healing effect. For this space, we took advantage of the family’s desire to hide their pool equipment by creating a private woodland path. We brought in bushes and plantings and fit them among existing old-growth trees. Adding bluestone stepping stones that lead to a larger woodland area contributes to an extended nature walk that is perfect for forest bathing. www.deckandpatio.com

Laminam’s Oxide collection is based on the study of metal subjected to atmospheric agents to “capture” a particular moment of the oxidation process on ceramic. Oxide Avorio, available in the 1000×3000 mm size, replicates the effect of oxidised metal with shades of white and light hazelnut, which go well with modern environments as furnishing design elements, while maintaining an elegant allure even for metal flooring and cladding applications.
