The bar stools in this collection are inspired by constructive-like character of stool by Lise Johansson – Pape. This piece features rounded Scandinavian lines with an industry-like shape. Basic elements of this stool are applied to bar stool in a different, more dynamic manner. The seat consists of four panels which resemble the shape of three leaf clover. Additional dynamic nature is achieved by seat cuts, which is slightly bent upward, thus giving impression of lightness of the entire piece. THE SETUP Sam’s client had lived in her downtown townhome home for less than a year when she decided to remodel the spacious second level. This open area consisted of three sections: a TV and fireplace zone, a sparsely furnished dining area, and a dominant central kitchen. The kitchen featured a long back wall with three segmented sections and a massive island housing the cooktop. She found the kitchen’s functionality lacking and its presence overwhelming – it dominated the entire floor, regardless of where you stood. Design objectives: - Reconfigure key kitchen elements (sink, cooktop, oven) while minimizing the kitchen’s visual impact - Optimize the kitchen’s back wall, eliminating existing dead space - Create a purposeful, well-defined dining area - Establish a distinct, comfortable living area - Reuse existing appliances and flooring - Maintain an overall modern design aesthetic THE REMODEL Design challenges to be solved: - Redesign the island to reduce its overwhelming presence - Create a comfortable, dedicated living room within the available space - Establish a distinct, inviting dining area within spatial constraints - Enhance kitchen functionality and style without dominating the entire floor THE RENEWED SPACE Design solutions: - Sam created raised end caps for the island. This separated the kitchen from adjacent living and dining areas while focusing the kitchen’s functionality. The new sink location offers ample workspace, allowing the cook to interact with guests seated at the island. The redesigned island also provides additional storage. - For the living area, Sam opted for a functional-yet-minimalist approach. Large-format tile creates a natural stone look for the fireplace and TV wall. The recessed TV and extended fireplace shelf maintain a sleek profile. - Artistic wallpaper adds depth and texture, while the intentional lack of extensive shelving keeps the space open and distinct. - Sam transformed the dining area’s blank wall into a feature, adding a unique dry bar with counter space, open shelves, cabinet storage and a beverage fridge. - - - Wallpaper behind and above the bar contributes to the area’s personality. A mirror adds depth while pendant lights add style and visual interest. Relocating the cooktop to the back wall facilitates hidden ventilation, reducing visual clutter. Sam balanced transitional and modern elements for a contemporary yet comfortable feel. The digital control panel on the convection cooktop maintains a sleek look, while the wall oven is now at an easy-to-use height. ----- Mirrored base cabinet fronts and a paneled fridge prevent cabinetry monotony. The redesign has delighted Sam’s client, achieving her main goal of creating a more inviting and visually appealing space. Each section now has its own visual personality and functionality while harmonizing within a monochromatic palette. The entire floor offers wow-factor pop upon first glance, with each area maintaining its distinct character while contributing to a cohesive, modern aesthetic.

The central tall doors of the cabinet fold back in revealing a TV for the bedroom. The columns come from small details within the original portion of the home. This home office started as a blank room and needed the capability for three people to have their own workspaces but keeping in mind the potential for this space to be a game room in the future. The cased opening was changed to a pair of transitional French doors with clear glass to keep an open feel but providing a private work space. The natural light coming into the room from the windows needed to be an uninterrupted element, therefore the stationary drapery panels were mounted outside the windows to frame them. Custom cabinets were designed to incorporate drawer storage, shelving storage, TV mounting and decorative display. The continuous quartz countertop gives an additional multi-use workspace. All of these dual-function cabinet elements can be transitioned from office to game room when required. The acrylic and chrome cabinet hardware was a new release and gives a modern touch to the space. The client also had a pair of vintage family chests that they wanted to incorporate into the space so we updated them with a new coat of grey paint and had new Carrara marble tops fabricated with a traditional ogee edge. The acrylic hardware is consistent with the vintage chest but gives an updated modern flare. The sleek L-shaped white desks provide a neutral but modern look with ample workspace. White leather desk chairs give the comfort of an office chair but the modern style that the client desired.

This homeowner’s outdoor living area was designed to incorporate relaxing and fun features that could gather the whole family. Various materials were used in order to wrap up the whole look. The outdoor patio area was laid down with full color bluestone dimensional natural stone. The colors of this natural stone brought a calming element to the whole area. The fire-pit incorporated into the patio was made up of the Pennsylvania fieldstone wallstone that was also found in the outdoor kitchen and retaining walls surrounding the backyard. This consistency kept each of the features uniform while still highlighting them in a great way. The bluestone treads and caps found on the retaining wall and fire-pit added a nice element of color to the whole area. Braen Supply and Distinctive Design NJ worked together to incorporate these materials into the landscape and truly bring all of the features to life. The homeowners loved the outcome and are enjoying their outdoor living area.

Copper-coloured effect lacquer fronts from the LAIKA range generate visual drama with a metallic effect in this horizontally planned kitchen of the product line PRIMO with a carbon grey carcase. In addition to various unit elements and a satin-finished glass worktop, the metallic look is also reflected in the raised frame of the kitchen island – an architectural detail reminiscent of a bar situation. The colour-contrasting wall unit consists of individual elements placed in front of each other, but, due to the clasping of the side panels in the upper row of shelves, it looks like a coherent furniture soloist. The metallic lacquer in “copper shadow” clearly emphasises the spatially offset part and creates a three-dimensional look. In this way, this kitchen design dissolves the classic arrangement of wall units strung together and creates a completely new look. To match this, the planners of this ensemble chose the MADERO programme in dark “wild oak marsh” and created a modern, trendy flair with a contrast to the copper tone implemented throughout.

This open, light-filled kitchen seamlessly blends natural and contemporary elements. The white oak cabinetry and hardwood floors create an elevated touch throughout the kitchen and the remainder of the home. As this kitchen faces north, the room has consistent natural light throughout the day, however, it is cool and muted. Our designer recommended counterbalancing that coolness with the greige cabinetry along the exterior of the kitchen. A large four-person island provides ample seating and counterspace and showcases a minimalist veined quartz countertop. Handmade tile was installed from counter to ceiling creating a beautiful accent to the overall design. A custom shiplap range hood ties in the opposing white oak cabinetry. Statement light fixtures and oil-rubbed bronze hardware serve as a contrast to all the other neutral design elements. By relocating appliances, we improved the kitchen layout, and enlarged the counterspace and work area. The corner sink remained in its original location but was updated with a timeless apron front farm sink. To gain optimal storage capacity in the kitchen, our designer recommended full height pantry cabinets on either side of an appliance station. This appliance station features a built-in quartz counter, tile backsplash, floating shelves, and hidden pocket doors so that when in use the doors remain out of the kitchen workspace. It provides a perfect spot where all small cooking appliances like a microwave or toaster oven can remain out of sight, freeing up counterspace for its intended purpose of food prep and for gathering.

The fourth wall in the living room consists of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. This condo sleeps 8 so providing ample seating was important. One of our favorite features was adding two teal swivel chairs for guests to stare at the ocean while having coffee in the morning that is also just extra seating during gatherings. Finding elements that were not only stylish but also durable was crucial to the overall design and styling of this space as this doubles as a vacation rental for our client. Mixing style with functionality. We kept the original ceiling in the living room as well as the original cement accent wall in the living room. Everything else was changed. A window was added to the stair wall so that as you walk downstairs, you get a view of the ocean. The walls were painted a barely-there minty seafoam color and we stuck with a neutral color palette with pops of various shades of blues. Built-ins were installed to create a working space that doubles as extra storage. The sectional has a chaise that is used to store bedding and the middle part of the sectional pulls out to provide additional sleeping space for guests. The 3 paintings above the sofa were custom painted for the client's space, as well as the dining table and chairs. The rug is a beautiful piece that ties in all of the colors found throughout the downstairs space.

Bar stools in this collection are inspired by constructive-like character of stool by Lise Johansson – Pape.Rounded lines of Scandinavian design, on this piece has got a sharper, industry-like shape. Basic elements of this stool are applied to bar stool in different, more dynamic manner. Seat is consisted of four panels which resemble the shape of three leaf clover. Additional dynamic nature is achieved by seat cuts, which is slightly bended upward, thus giving impression of lightness of the entire piece. Industrial look is intensified by cross bars on legs which are made of steel elements. Stool is made in standard seat height of 75 cm but there is version of low stool.
