The new Owners of this cottage on Dickie Lake in the Township of Lake of Bays approached us to design a substantial “face-lift” renovation of the existing cottage, and to design a new garage for secure storage.
A scrapbook collection of architectural style reference photos that the Owners had collected set the starting point for an integrated & consistent design style between the cottage and the new garage.
A gable roof feature was added to “celebrate the entry” to the existing cottage.
Windows, doors & siding were installed to the newly constructed garage. Windows & doors in the existing cottage were integrated with the new board & batten siding applied to both the cottage and the garage.
A high-quality exterior siding stain was applied by hand-brushing for enhanced penetration & protection. A durable exterior deck stain was applied to the new cedar deck.

By moving the exterior wall to the patio out two feet, we were able to create an open kitchen/dining/living space in perfect proportion for this mid-century style home. We were able to create a recessed nook across from the kitchen by taking some space out of their existing laundry room. The niche is enhanced by the custom sized Dandy ceramic tile, designed to perfectly match the kitchen cabinet color. The Link Suspension Lighting over the table complimets the wood flooring perfectly, and adds a soft touch to this modern space.

A mid-century modern home in West Seattle with a tiny cramped kitchen was in need of a more open and functional kitchen. The goal was to enhance the existing style of the house and provide a welcoming open space for family and friends.

This kitchen renovation was part of a larger, extensive interior renovation for an existing penthouse condominium residence, located in Clayton, Missouri. The primary concept for the overall renovation was to bring architectural continuity throughout the entire residence with an edited materials palette that serves as a neutral backdrop for the owners’ extensive art collection. For the kitchen area specifically, dark flooring comprised of large-format Italian porcelain tiles is contrasted with high-gloss white cabinetry at the kitchen’s perimeter and gray-stained reconstituted veneer wrapping the island cabinetry. This neutral palette of white and gray is further enhanced with quartz countertops that include dramatic, gray veining. The custom banquette seating with built-in storage, activates the north wall of the kitchen and serves as an anchor for a new dining table and chairs. A contrasting blue velvet textile softens the built-in banquette, and provides a restrained field of color. The gray wood veneer is echoed at custom wall panels behind the banquette, serving as a textural backdrop for artwork installation. And a light, feathery chandelier hangs above the dining table with intention in mind to not obstruct views of the artwork beyond.

These homeowners wanted to maintain their home's existing tropical mediterranean vibes, so we enhanced their space with accenting multi-tone pavers. These paving stones are rich in color and texture, adding to the existing beauty of their home. Artificial turf was added in for drought tolerance and low maintenance. Landscape lighting flows throughout the front and the backyard. Lastly, they requested a water feature to be included on their private backyard patio for added relaxation and ambiance.

The landscape embraces and enhances the stunning natural growth of the site. When creating the lakeside terrace, special care was taken to pre-treat and protect the existing specimen 28” oak tree that frames breathtaking views.

The project objective was to enhance the existing rear entrance and carport of a 1950's ranch style home. 'the design included a new timber framed gable roof structure over the entry door, a new full glass entry door, conversion of a dilapidated carport into a covered patio pavilion, a new set of steps with railings, and a new paint scheme for the entire exterior of the home.
