Inspiration for an eclectic home design remodel in Boston

This Houston, Texas River Oaks home went through a complete remodel of their master bathroom. Originally, it was a bland rectangular space with a misplaced shower in the center of the bathroom; partnered with a built-in tub against the window. We redesigned the new space by completely gutting the old bathroom. We decided to make the space flow more consistently by working with the rectangular layout and then created a master bathroom with free-standing tub inside the shower enclosure. The tub was floated inside the shower by the window. Next, we added a large bench seat with an oversized mosaic glass backdrop by Lunada Bay "Agate Taiko. The 9’ x 9’ shower is fully enclosed with 3/8” seamless glass. The furniture-like vanity was custom built with decorative overlays on the mirror doors to match the shower mosaic tile design. Further, we bleached the hickory wood to get the white wash stain on the cabinets. The floor tile is 12" x 24" Athena Sand with a linear mosaic running the length of the room. This tranquil spa bath has many luxurious amenities such as a Bain Ultra Air Tub, "Evanescence" with Brizo Virage Lavatory faucets and fixtures in a brushed bronze brilliance finish. Overall, this was a drastic, yet much needed change for my client.

Inspiration for a large transitional master vinyl floor and beige floor bathroom remodel in Other with shaker cabinets, white cabinets, blue walls and an undermount sink

This house west of Boston was originally designed in 1958 by the great New England modernist, Henry Hoover. He built his own modern home in Lincoln in 1937, the year before the German émigré Walter Gropius built his own world famous house only a few miles away. By the time this 1958 house was built, Hoover had matured as an architect; sensitively adapting the house to the land and incorporating the clients wish to recreate the indoor-outdoor vibe of their previous home in Hawaii. The house is beautifully nestled into its site. The slope of the roof perfectly matches the natural slope of the land. The levels of the house delicately step down the hill avoiding the granite ledge below. The entry stairs also follow the natural grade to an entry hall that is on a mid level between the upper main public rooms and bedrooms below. The living spaces feature a south- facing shed roof that brings the sun deep in to the home. Collaborating closely with the homeowner and general contractor, we freshened up the house by adding radiant heat under the new purple/green natural cleft slate floor. Creating environments that encourage our families to spend more time outdoors is important in today’s hi-tech world. Designed for the 2014 Chicago Flower and Garden show, this display garden captures a playful sensibility well-suited for any family to enjoy. The clean, modern lines and carefully planned spaces of this 50’ by 50’ garden form an enticing setting to simply unplug. Working within a very limited area, the design organizes a bio pool with sundeck, a spillover water feature and lounge area, and a gravel dining terrace with a built-in fireplace and shade tree canopy. Unlike traditional pools, our bio pool utilizes aquatic plants, beneficial bacteria, and microbes, rather than harsh chemicals, to filter the water. Impurities and excess nutrients are drawn out of the water naturally, creating a much healthier swimming environment. A native plant palette is incorporated throughout the garden with shade trees, ornamentals, native forbs, and perennials in an emergent spring landscape. We hope this exciting design will encourage green inspiration for visitors, whether they have a tight city lot or a larger suburban property.

Inspiration for a transitional porch remodel in San Diego

The Aurora can be labeled as a greenhouse shed combo. It includes four large aluminum windows with tempered glass for safety. On top of that, it features 509 cubic feet of storage space for gardening tools and equipment or plants. With the many windows, light is aplenty. However, there is even the option to add solar shades so you can control the amount of sunlight coming in. In addition, you can add a power ventilation fan to remove excess heat and bring in cool air inside. If you looking to grow plants and vegetables all year around and store stuff, the Aurora greenhouse shed combo is just what you're looking for. It's a customer favorite.

This once dated master suite is now a bright and eclectic space with influence from the homeowners travels abroad. We transformed their overly large bathroom with dysfunctional square footage into cohesive space meant for luxury. We created a large open, walk in shower adorned by a leathered stone slab. The new master closet is adorned with warmth from bird wallpaper and a robin's egg blue chest. We were able to create another bedroom from the excess space in the redesign. The frosted glass french doors, blue walls and special wall paper tie into the feel of the home. In the bathroom, the Bain Ultra freestanding tub below is the focal point of this new space. A natural stone pathway winds around the rain garden. The rain garden collects rain water so it soaks into the ground gradually. This keeps excess water from running off into local waterways.
