A private children’s foundation hired award-winning architecture firm, Christoff : Finio Architects, to renovate and remodel the classical-style townhouse structure into a modern and light-filled headquarters. Christoff : Finio contacted Hans to develop a planting plan for the intimate, rear courtyard gardens as well as a planting scheme for the front tree bed. We carefully selected plant material that could thrive in an extremely low-light environment while providing seasonal interest and color as a counterpoint to the modern interior. Herbaceous flowering and evergreen plants were selected to drift through each other with intermittent vertical accents, creating a lush courtyard border.

A unique three-panel bi-fold door, separates the indoor-outdoor space; on nice days, plenty of natural ventilation flows through the house. Opening the sunroom, living room and kitchen spaces enables a free dialog between rooms. The kitchen level sits above the sunroom and living room giving it a perch as the heart of the home. Dressed in maple and white, the cabinet color palette is in sync with the subtle value and warmth of nature. The cooktop wall was designed as a piece of furniture; the maple cabinets frame the inserted white cabinet wall. The subtle mosaic backsplash with a hint of green, represents a delicate leaf.

An extreme renovation makeover for my clients teenagers bathroom. We expanded the footprint and upgraded all facets of the existing space. We selected a more mature, sophisticated, spa like vibe that fit her likes and needs, while maintaining a modern, subdued palette that was calming + inviting and showcased the sculptural elements in the room. There really was nowhere but up to go in this space.

Total makeover of this contemporary Houston Heights townhome backyard. A brick border with notched corners encapsulates a crowned synthetic lawn creating an extremely low maintenance, puppy-friendly space. We lined the lawn frame with Blackstar Gravel (instead of mulch) to add elegance and make this space even more low maintenance. A row of evenly spaced Eagleston Hollies line the back fence and will grow to add additional privacy from neighboring homes. Confederate Jasmine is trellised on a diamond cable pattern and will bloom white in spring. The fence is painted with our proprietary "River Oaks Green"... a secret recipe of Lanson B. Jones & Company!

A custom fireplace is the visual focus of this craftsman style home's living room while the U-shaped kitchen and elegant bedroom showcase gorgeous pendant lights. Beach style medium tone wood floor bedroom photo in Miami with gray walls

Creeping phlox (Phlox subulata) is an evergreen, low growing ground cover that is extremely low maintenance. It is tolerant of a wide range of conditions from sunny to part shady and with very dry to normal soil. This photo was taken just a few months after installation of one-gallon size plants. The fast growth and explosion of spring color is due to providing optimum conditions. We prepared the soil in the area 6" deep rather than planting in hard compacted clay. The client was amazed and delighted that we could turn this problem area into the envy of the neighborhood in just a few months.
