We installed 22 degree cabinets at each side of the stove to allow for their wheel chair. The false header was taken out to make for a smooth ceiling.

This design included a structure that tied into the home and included a false open gable to highlight over the fire feature. Texas Custom Patios vaulted the ceilings and used a prefinished wood material to give it a natural wood look. We opened the flow through the living room to the outdoor living area by removing the traditional door and windows and replacing them with modern 2 panel and 3 panel sliding doors. In order to change the entire feel of the area, we lime washed the brick a gray color to remove the previous orange brick. We created a two-tiered, double-sided modern fire feature that had a unique encaustic style tile pattern on the bottom tier and stacked stone on the top tier. Inspiration for a transitional master gray tile and stone tile marble floor double shower remodel in Boston with an undermount sink, recessed-panel cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops and white walls

This lovely couple was initially thinking of just refacing their cabinets and replacing their countertops and backsplash. After assessing all that was going on with those cabinets, rotted out sink base, false drawer fronts, lots of filler boards between cabinets, blind corner cabinet they could not reach back into, cabinet and drawer under the peninsula overhang, a small island, and an odd cubby hole in the wall, we suggested going all new to add so much more functionality with just a little bit more added to their budget. Seeing all the added benefits with only a slight change to the footprint of their existing cabinetry and all the added benefits and features, it was not a difficult decision for them. Then they decided to add matching cabinet doors to their existing shelving which was painted to match with an accent color! One of the unique features we were able to add to this space was taking the odd cubby hole in the wall which could not be extended any higher due to the bonus room floor just above that space was the make it into a pet feeding station and extra storage for their small appliances! By adding matching tile and countertop material it can handle even the messiest of doggie drinkers. Aside from the fresh paint in the whole space, a gorgeous accent color added to the living room shelves and doors, and soft white upper cabinets allowed for the wood base cabinets to create a warm and open feeling while the under and above cabinet task lighting brightens and lifts the space to looking like it even has taller ceilings. Selecting just the right light fixtures give is just the right light in just the right places for a much more updated look that now matches the rest of their house!

The center of the storage wall contains a built-in work center, which is accessed via floor to bulkhead bayonet doors. The black glass cooktop is almost invisible in the absolute black countertop. The island countertop includes a knife edge and the granite countertop rests atop a thin band of stainless steel. The stainless steel cabinet hardware was custom fabricated so that the space between the edge of each cabinet and the hardware is the same on each cabinet. The Sub-Zero refrigerator is topped by a stainless steel false panel which extends the refrigerator to the ceiling.

While this kitchen has shaker doors, you can see that the boarder is darker than the panel. This creates a great l custom detail that looks luxurious and a hidden pantry to give a false room with wonderful storage!

1950's laundry room transformed into a beautiful space to do laundry. We were challenged with old pipes, low ceiling and concealing a large water heater. We created two false walls and cabinetry around the water heater for a seamless flow.

This 10,000 sf townhouse sits on one of Manhattan’s most beautiful Upper East Side streets and so the goal of the project was to return the house to its original grandeur. Previously a Kips Bay designer showcase house, the rooms were each designed in a differing style and therefore the lack of cohesion and flow made the house seem choppy. In addition, much of the interior was superficial in the sense that plumbing fixtures were not all connected, walls were “false walls” built in front of existing and much of the construction had to be rebuilt. The scope included creating a large gourmet kitchen in the rear of the ground floor by closing off the winding corridor and creating a new door opening centered on the main entry hall with a paneled arched pocket door mimicking the original detailing of the parlor floor. The kitchen has a Calacatta Gold stone center island and dinning area flanked by counters that run the length of the east and west walls with glass front upper cabinets. A built-in buffet on the south wall anchors the space. A mud room, with access to the delivery entrance and additional storage space was added off the kitchen. A new slim profile steel and glass French door provides access to a new steel rear deck and stairs to the rear yard. On the second floor, a new tile floor was added throughout and RRA designed new stone mantle pieces fabricated from England in the living and dining rooms. On the 3rd floor, a new wall was constructed in the 11’ wide central hallway to allow a new 135 sf master closet with custom designed built-in storage units and accessories. This concept was carried through to the 4th floor on a smaller scale and 4 new storage closets were added in the hallway. The existing bathroom on the 4th Floor was gutted and redesigned including a new 5’x5’ extra deep soaking tub and new fixtures. Silver travertine tiles were used throughout to give the room a durable, waterproof finish while also providing a warm, luxurious feel. The 5th floor was converted into a playroom and TV room for the family’s two young children and was outfitted with chalkboard paint along the entire east wall in the play area and a bold color block wall treatment in the TV room. A new cork floor was installed for durability and resilience to lots of activity yet providing a soft and sustainable floor treatment for its intended user. A full laundry room was also created floor with new cabinetry, plumbing, and floor and wall tile. Additionally, 3 full baths and a powder room were refitted with tumbled travertine tiles on the top two floors. The exterior of the building was refurbished and new lighting and painted doors and frames were installed in accordance with Landmark designation. An additional challenge on the project was that a previously built extension on the PH level was illegally overbuilt and the property had received a violation. A 9 month process of filing drawings, completing zoning analyses and meetings with the DOB Commissioners ensued to get the extension approved allowing us to obtain a permit for the remainder of the work and complete the Certificate of Occupancy. In spite of the complex process and scattered program, the completed townhouse has a cohesive aesthetic throughout, with upgraded amenities befitting this grand representation of elite New York living.

This u-shaped kitchen was created with American-made StarMark Cabinetry’s all wood construction, dovetail joinery, self-close drawers, undermount glides on the drawers, and 3/4 inch thick side panels.

A period-looking fireplace was built with its facade adorned in with a mounted trout and "Duidins" (Irish clay pipes) hung on tongue and groove paneling between faux posts. Select Figured Crotch Walnut was used for the custom-built mantle. and blue stone for the surround and stepped hearth.
