With a modest patio between the home and the pool, the homeowners longed for better entertaining spaces and more connection between their interior, exterior, pool, and second floor. Copper Sky Design + Remodel began this renovation with the removal of a weathered pergola and creating a large opening from their living room to the patio for new sleek accordion steel doors that seamlessly merge the indoor and outdoor spaces. To further elevate the outdoor space, the adjacent patio was covered, and retractable screens and vinyl panels were installed. These features provide flexibility to enjoy the outdoors without the inconvenience of summertime insects, pollen, and unpredictable weather. The ceiling of the newly covered porch was custom designed to discreetly house the electrical components for the motorized screens, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance. A spiral staircase was introduced, leading to a second-story deck that spans the width of the home. This addition provides easy access to the outdoors directly from the bedrooms, offering a serene spot for enjoying the stunning views of the backyard. The deck features cable railing, which preserves the unobstructed view, and is adorned with elegant copper post caps. For added privacy, louvered wooden screens were installed at one end of the deck. Given the homeowners' joy for entertaining, this design included the installation of outdoor speakers and color-changing LED lights on the porch ceiling and upper deck railings. The LED lights allow for a customizable ambiance, enabling the homeowners to set the perfect mood for any occasion. Additionally, gas lanterns were added to the porch beams, casting a romantic glow over the pool area, and enhancing the atmosphere for evening gatherings.

These Silicon Valley homeowners were looking to transform their single family dwelling into a stylish, contemporary living space. Finding the perfect lot in an ideal location, they tore down the existing home and completely rebuilt it from scratch. As part of their must haves, they incorporated an open floor plan into their living space, an essential design feature that would enable them to entertain friends and family for many years to come. Planning for future retirement and longevity in the home, it was also important to incorporate universal design features such as wider doorways, wider hallways, and no threshold or curb-less showers.

We took this high-rise condo to new heights with a significant renovation. All three bathrooms, the kitchen and living area were reimagined to provide updates and special features, worthy of its location in the Mayfair building at Turtle Creek. Bathrooms boasting marble, custom vanities, and specialty plumbing ensure luxury experiences. By squaring off a rounded entryway, we gained space to form a functional laundry room and pantry adjacent to the kitchen. In addition, this enabled us to design the kitchen with a new, expansive island and maximize functionality. The fumed eucalyptus wood cabinets add visual interest and warmth to the space, beyond the additional storage created. A waterfall island face, the concealed cooktop knobs and marble countertops continuing up the wall as a backsplash point to some of the kitchen’s most discerning features. The specialty cabinetry was extended into the living space as a fully custom media cabinet and concealed bar, complete with wine storage to create the room’s unmistakable focal point. This condominium now possesses the bells and whistles Dallasites most appreciate.

Capitol City Homes presents a beautiful master bath luxury design. The glass shower features a seat area and the soaking tub features spaces for candles, books and essentials. Approximately 1,770 square feet are found in the interior of the home spread throughout the two stories. Cat Neitzey of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Fredericksburg, VA, in collaboration with Abby Construction, designed a transitional kitchen design featuring Masterpiece cabinetry. The kitchen cabinets are in the Masterpiece Gallina door style in Maple in a Dove White finish for the perimeter and a Midnight Blue finish for the island. The design also features both finishes on tall cabinets designed for pantry, display and coffee bar use. The kitchen also includes Cambria Portrush for the countertops, full height and standard backsplashes. “Cat knew her products and knew good design. She was a great problem solver,” said the client. According to Cat, Abby Construction undertook the transformation of a 1951 home from traditional to modern, open, and accessible, enabling its owners to age gracefully. They reconfigured doors, walls and the façade, integrating the garage into the living space. "The clients' construction background and design expertise positioned them as the ideal team to tackle a project of this magnitude. Throughout the process, we maintained frequent communication, meeting regularly both on-site and in the showroom. Our primary challenge arose from the evolving plan, necessitated by the structural alterations to the existing house, which impacted the future design," said Cat. “Our primary focus was to keep the design accessible. We needed to dramatically increase the amount of storage from the original kitchen. The result is a warm, sophisticated home designed to showcase treasured artifacts and collectibles gathered from years abroad while providing modern functionality for everyday living. From the moment you enter, the home's new character unfolds through a carefully curated palette of wood, stone, and metal. Rich ebony-stained knotty alder millwork draws the eye through the entry, where a newly created mudroom replaces the former office space. The kitchen—the heart of this home—carries through the solid Fir beams and cultured stack stone to create unity with the living area. Shelving on each side of the large range provides accessible and partially hidden storage for ease of reach to the culinary enthusiast. The homeowners desired a space where they could entertain, and this large and open area enables friends and family to gather and enjoy the space. The kitchen features a quartz countertop lit from below with a custom LED lighting panel that shines through the larger, transparent pieces of crystal. When the overhead lights are dimmed, it is an absolutely mesmerizing effect in the space.

These bespoke fitted alcove TV, display and storage cabinets were handcrafted by Claude Clémaron for a period property in southwest London. The green-painted oak cabinetry provides a variety of open and concealed storage. Tall bifold doors are designed to hide the large black TV screen when it’s not in use and maintain the aesthetic of the living space. The made to measure, floor to ceiling cabinets have been made in natural oak and painted green, in a deep, heritage shade. The spray painted matt finish retains the beautiful appearance of the oak wood’s grain and texture. The painted finish is Green Smoke no 47 by Farrow and Ball, a smoky green, popular in late 19th century interiors. LED lights enhance the units with a subtle glow, while also illuminating the items on display. Timeless craftsmanship for classic interiors The classic bespoke built-in cabinetry features fluted pilasters, decorative elements resembling a column and the mark of fine craftsmanship. Flutes are vertical concave grooves carved into the surface of the pilaster, adding texture and visual interest to the pilaster and bringing a luxuriously elegant look to the cabinetry. The lower cupboards feature soft closing, push to open doors, handle-free doors. This has the effect of a panelled look without the distraction of extra hardware. Bespoke solid oak library ladder The beautifully crafted library ladder enables the user to reach the upper shelves of the cabinets. The ladder hooks on to the handmade aged black steel rails incorporated onto the cabinets. Made in solid oak for strength, stability and style, the ladder will last for decades. Built in fire surround with mantle We created a simple built in integrated fire surround with a shallow decorative mantle for the existing wood burner stove. The fake chimneybreast for the fireplace has a distinctive panel design and visually connects the two alcove cabinets to appear as one continuous wall fitment.

We designed this kitchen to have three different heights to enable our client and family to prepare and cook food easily. For example, the accessible worktop with a custom-made sink was made to be 870mm - the perfect height for a wheelchair user. Other key features in this design include wheelchair level ovens with tray slides that sit directly under two Neff Slide & Glide ovens, a Neff Steamer and a Microwave, so hot oven trays can be moved easily across each tray slide. A pull-out shelf allows for food/trays to be moved easily to the worktop level that was designed to be lower than standard for wheel-chair use. In front of the hob, there is also a protective lip at the edge of the worktop to stop a pan from boiling over onto the floor, or onto the client's lap. A stone sink was also custom made by Cosentino, so it wasn’t too deep for our client to reach into. The architects included wood slatting across the entire ground floor that creating a stunning feature in the kitchen space. Each slat was designed to run with precision over the door units - there were also toasters and pull-out drawers hidden behind this area which were designed to be isolated from the power when the doors were closed. Mixing different materials and textures in a kitchen space created interest and contrast. The striking mix of the stained wood slatting, Graphite Grey cabinetry and durable Dekton Keon worktops in this collaborative kitchen design creates a real wow factor. The "Corner Villa" design principles are meticulously crafted to create communal spaces for celebrations and gatherings while catering to the owner's need for private sanctuaries and privacy. One unique feature of the villa is the courtyard at the back of the building, separated from the main facade and parking area. This placement ensures that the courtyard and private areas of the villa remain secluded and at the center of the structure. In addition, the desire for a peaceful space away from the main reception and party hall led to more secluded private spaces and bedrooms on a single floor. These spaces are connected by a deep balcony, allowing for different activities to take place simultaneously, making the villa more energy-efficient during periods of lower occupancy and contributing to reduced energy consumption. The villa's shape features broken lines and geometric lozenges that create corners. This design not only allows for expansive balconies but also provides captivating views. The broken lines also serve the purpose of shading areas that receive intense sunlight, ensuring thermal comfort. Addressing the client's crucial need for a serene and tranquil space detached from the main reception and party hall led to the creation of more secluded private spaces and bedrooms on a single floor due to building restrictions. A deep balcony was introduced as a connecting point between these spaces. This arrangement enables various activities, such as parties and relaxation, to occur simultaneously, contributing to energy-efficient practices during periods of lower occupancy, thus aiding in reduced energy consumption.

This impressive detached building is located in the heart of the bustling Dundas West strip, and presents a unique opportunity for creative live + work space. Designed by Kohn Shnier Architects, the building was completed in 2008 and has been owner-occupied ever since. Modern steel and concrete construction enable clear spans throughout, and the virtual elimination of bulkheads. The main floor features a dynamic retail space, that connects to a lower level with high ceilings – perfect as a workshop, atelier or as an extension of the retail. Upstairs, a spacious loft-like apartment is spread over 2 floors. The mainfloor includes a decadent chef’s kitchen finished in Corian, with a large eat-at island. The combined living & dining rooms connect with a large south-facing terrace with exceptional natural light and neighbourhood views. Upstairs, the master bathroom features abundant built-in closets, together with a generous ensuite bathroom. A second open space is presently used as a studio, but is easily converted to a closed 2nd bedroom. Parking is provided at the rear of the building, and the rooftop functions as a green roof. The finest materials have been used in this very special building, from anodized aluminium windows paired with black manganese brick, to high quality appliances and dual furnaces to provide adequate heating and fire separation between the retail and residential units.
