I designed the ADU to be tucked back as a vertical element to create a cozy space for the hot tub area and not take over the space vertically if it were in other spots. By having it off to the side, it grounds the garden and becomes a destination as well as recedes rather than dominate the space. It acts as an office space. Keep in mind that you can always do heated flooring if you do a concrete pad or tile as we planned for in this space. Energy efficient and also saves on space. Deck chairs can be brought closer to the hot tub at social events. Modern shed by Eric Enns of Modern Spaces and Sheds.

SeaThru is a new, waterfront, modern home. SeaThru was inspired by the mid-century modern homes from our area, known as the Sarasota School of Architecture.
This homes designed to offer more than the standard, ubiquitous rear-yard waterfront outdoor space. A central courtyard offer the residents a respite from the heat that accompanies west sun, and creates a gorgeous intermediate view fro guest staying in the semi-attached guest suite, who can actually SEE THROUGH the main living space and enjoy the bay views.
Noble materials such as stone cladding, oak floors, composite wood louver screens and generous amounts of glass lend to a relaxed, warm-contemporary feeling not typically common to these types of homes.

We added a detached, exterior screened porch that connects to an existing, expansive deck wrapped around the back of the home. Textured landscaping and natural grasses provide a serene backdrop to the wooden frame, and iron balusters complete the railings with their contemporary look. Mounted on oversized beams that extend beyond the deck, the vibrant fabric roof color lends a cheerful, welcoming vibe. With the screened walls keeping bugs all at bay, this porch can easily be an all-hours destination for everyone in the family. A ceiling fan attached to the large wooden beams overhead helps stir the air on lazy summer evenings, and also includes a light that invites social entertaining or quiet reading long past dark. We chose cushioned, wicker swivel chairs to complement the full table and dining set, so there really is no excuse to rush out into the day. An extension to the remodeled home, this screened porch is everything the homeowners wanted: an exquisite respite for enjoying all the sights and sounds of great back yard living.

Riverwash stones and small boulders were used to line a dry streambed through the garden. The streambed provides an attractive way for water to flow through the property. Stepping stones and step boulder were placed to make it inviting to explore the garden.
This garden was photographed immediately after installation and shows how an immediate softening of the neighbor's homes is created. Large size Cryptomeria, Green Giant Arborvitae, and Little Gem Magnolia create a wonderfully textured, fast growing green screen. Behind the fountain, the property line is very close and narrow Emerald Green Arborvitae are used to create a green screen in this spot.

This Birmingham Michigan condo was looking for a way to screen the traffic from Woodward Avenue. They wanted to keep the buffer natural but have it grow to become thick enough to filter out the light and noise. Since the site was some what shady and they wanted year round screening. We installed Nigra (dark green) Arborvitae. The will grow to form a living wall that will look beautiful year round and thrive under the canopy of the large evergreens surrounded by the existing ground cover. Our crew was very careful to not disturb either during the installation. Landforms Inc.

J.Holderby - Renovations
Franklin County's Leading General Contractors - 2X Best of Houzz!

ATIID collaborated with these homeowners to curate new furnishings throughout the home while their down-to-the studs, raise-the-roof renovation, designed by Chambers Design, was underway. Pattern and color were everything to the owners, and classic “Americana” colors with a modern twist appear in the formal dining room, great room with gorgeous new screen porch, and the primary bedroom. Custom bedding that marries not-so-traditional checks and florals invites guests into each sumptuously layered bed. Vintage and contemporary area rugs in wool and jute provide color and warmth, grounding each space. Bold wallpapers were introduced in the powder and guest bathrooms, and custom draperies layered with natural fiber roman shades ala Cindy’s Window Fashions inspire the palettes and draw the eye out to the natural beauty beyond. Luxury abounds in each bathroom with gleaming chrome fixtures and classic finishes. A magnetic shade of blue paint envelops the gourmet kitchen and a buttery yellow creates a happy basement laundry room. No detail was overlooked in this stately home - down to the mudroom’s delightful dutch door and hard-wearing brick floor.
