Warm gray porcelain tiles create a modern masculine feel in this recent Woodley Park-DC bathroom remodel. The custom live edge walnut shelves introduce a natural element against the contemporary floating quartz countertop and backsplash. A non-working whirlpool tub was replaced with a generous walk-in shower and frameless glass enclosure. Two seven-foot-high skylights flood the bathroom with natural light and keep the space feeling open and airy.

This home had a generous master suite prior to the renovation; however, it was located close to the rest of the bedrooms and baths on the floor. They desired their own separate oasis with more privacy and asked us to design and add a 2nd story addition over the existing 1st floor family room, that would include a master suite with a laundry/gift wrapping room.
We added a 2nd story addition without adding to the existing footprint of the home. The addition is entered through a private hallway with a separate spacious laundry room, complete with custom storage cabinetry, sink area, and countertops for folding or wrapping gifts. The bedroom is brimming with details such as custom built-in storage cabinetry with fine trim mouldings, window seats, and a fireplace with fine trim details. The master bathroom was designed with comfort in mind. A custom double vanity and linen tower with mirrored front, quartz countertops and champagne bronze plumbing and lighting fixtures make this room elegant. Water jet cut Calcatta marble tile and glass tile make this walk-in shower with glass window panels a true work of art. And to complete this addition we added a large walk-in closet with separate his and her areas, including built-in dresser storage, a window seat, and a storage island. The finished renovation is their private spa-like place to escape the busyness of life in style and comfort. These delightful homeowners are already talking phase two of renovations with us and we look forward to a longstanding relationship with them.

A garden in Amsterdam Zuid for a busy family with young children. The garden needs to offer lots of space for the kids to play and the parents to relax. The perfect place to catch the last bit of sun after work. A nonchalant, natural feeling atmosphere. Lots of green (and purple). The use of the diagonal line along the house allows for a small path near the kitchen and a more generous patio area on the other side of the garden. The same stone, now as a flagstone is used a more irregular path in the lower lying section of the garden and again as the walls of the beds for the shade planting.

The kitchen in hOMe, our modern tiny house on wheels, is full sized and has full sized appliances including a full fridge (not shown in image). There is copious amounts of storage for food, cooking utensils, and eating utensils. The cabinetry, sink, and faucet are all from Ikea, the countertop from Lowe's.

Generous, black-mullioned windows pull in light.

Love this gray and white kitchen with both modern and old fashioned touches. Wide plank hardwood flooring, beadboard walls and a generous farmhouse sink bring back thoughts of yesteryear, while still enjoying the modern advances. We also have white granite countertops for the island and the kitchen counters, glass fronted cabinets, a nice overhang on the island for eating, beautiful pendant lighting over the island and a gorgeous hood with a decorative hammered steel look. In this open concept home, the dining area has easy access to the kitchen with a similar but more elaborate pendant chandelier.

The kitchen in this custom home by H2D Architecture + Design blends refined detailing with everyday functionality. A large central island anchors the space, offering generous room for meal preparation, casual dining, and gathering. White stainless appliances provide a sleek, contemporary touch, complemented by a built-in, panel-ready refrigerator that maintains the kitchen’s seamless aesthetic. The hood, wrapped in matching cabinetry material, creates a cohesive focal point while subtle detailing in the pendants above the island adds warmth and visual interest. Expansive windows overlook the private wooded yard, filling the kitchen with natural light and connecting the heart of the home to its serene surroundings.

A cabin in Western Wisconsin is transformed from within to become a serene and modern retreat. In a past life, this cabin was a fishing cottage which was part of a resort built in the 1920’s on a small lake not far from the Twin Cities. The cabin has had multiple additions over the years so improving flow to the outdoor space, creating a family friendly kitchen, and relocating a bigger master bedroom on the lake side were priorities. The solution was to bring the kitchen from the back of the cabin up to the front, reduce the size of an overly large bedroom in the back in order to create a more generous front entry way/mudroom adjacent to the kitchen, and add a fireplace in the center of the main floor.

The chef-inspired sink area boasts a durable and stylish Elkay Crosstown Single Basin sink, complemented by a practical Wolverine Brass-Chrome Basket Strainer. The sophisticated Brizo Litze Smart Touch Single Lever Kitchen Faucet adds a touch of modern convenience and elegance.

Playful colors resonate throughout this friendly guest bedroom. The custom headboards are upholstered in faux snakeskin vinyl, which create a cocoon for a sumptuous mix of bedding. Gold was used as an accent to highlight the carefully chosen accessories and drapery hardware. The tranquil blues are heightened by the use of reds found in the art and pillow textiles.
