This navy-blue transitional kitchen completely opens the space to include a cozy breakfast nook. With highlights of open walnut shelves, these recessed-paneled navy cabinets really pop off the white granite. Complete with stainless steel appliances and range hood, this kitchen rounds out a fresh take on a traditional space with a bold splash of color.

Converted a dining room table into an island. Staggered height and depth of cabinets. Swapped out white appliances for stainless steel appliances. Added LED tape strips above and below cabinets. Added two glass panel cabinets.

Designer: Barbara Stowe, Allied ASID The clients were looking for a complete update of their original 1960's kitchen. They requested a clean and fresh look that would withstand the test of time. Although the footprint remained the same, eliminating soffits allowed for full height cabinets and made the space look larger. Brookhaven by Wood-Mode cabinetry, a narrow pull-out pantry cabinet and custom built-in plate rack provide plenty of storage and the dual-fuel Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator are welcome upgrades. Classic colors of gray and yellow are repeated in the handmade ceramic tile back splash, the granite counter tops, porcelain plank tile flooring, decorative valance and the numerous fabrics. Antique chairs upholstered with new fabrics and a farmhouse table made from old doors add warmth, while polished nickel hardware and Schonbek crystal pendants add a bit of bling. The result is a kitchen that is wonderful to cook in as well as being a lovely gathering place for family and friends.

This kitchen combines a farmhouse style with state of the art appliances and unique features to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind design. The paneled appliances, bench seat, and hood, together with the kitchen cabinets are stunning in two-toned cabinetry with a distressed finish. A recessed cutting board in the countertop is both practical and a unique, eye-catching feature.

The kitchen, butler’s pantry, and laundry room uses Arbor Mills cabinetry and quartz counter tops. Wide plank flooring is installed to bring in an early world feel. Encaustic tiles and black iron hardware were used throughout. The butler’s pantry has polished brass latches and cup pulls which shine brightly on black painted cabinets. Across from the laundry room the fully custom mudroom wall was built around a salvaged 4” thick seat stained to match the laundry room cabinets.
